i was looking into getting one, so i read 5,986,840 reviews/message boards etc to see if it was what i needed and basically everyone had a lot of problems getting it to work. it did work, eventually, for some people....but... from what i've been reading a lot of problems with the boosters/repeaters has to do with WPA/WPA2 support and the lack thereof.
- Windows will list numerous networks with the same name - could try a firmware update on linksys' site - networking is rarely smooth, as you know all too well

we used those a bit when I was workign for time warner....
they blow nuts...
break all the time....
