My last final exam is tomorrow at 3 PM and deals mostly with James Joyce. I'm coming home on Saturday for the summer. I've been packing and cleaning a lot this week while still finding time to study and sleep in. It's not as easy as it sounds, trust me ( Read more... )

Mike! I remembered my name and re-found your journal. I needed to tell you something. You see, I was very excited about it, but no one else cared.

I went to meet Judd Nelson and Bill Paxton the other day at a movie screening. That was nice and all, but as my friend and I were going home I spotted a guy chatting by an elevator. He finished his conversation and I went over and said, "Hello, Buster". Buster, of Arrested Development fame, and I proceeded to ride the elevator and discuss the intricicies (as indicate as a 5 story elevator ride can be) of his fine show. I totally shook his hook hand. Anyway, I tried to regale my friends with my tale at school and was met with pathetic stares...alas.

Oh and I'd go with Da Vinci Code. That flick's going to put that Hanks guy on the map. Mark my words.

Finally, stupid movies going to Canada. Still, hope you get to go.

Finally Finally I have mail for you. It was my job to mail your card, and it sits on my desk, but you're not home yet, so time is still on my side.

1) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
2) Superman Returns
3) The Da Vinci Code
4) Mission: Impossible III
5) X-Men: The Last Stand

The thing is, outside of fanboy circles that you and I hang out in, buzz for the new Supes movie is pretty much nil. We'll see if that changes as it nears release, but people have been buzzing about the Pirates sequel since the day it was announced. It probably won't have the charm or be quite as good as the first, but people will see it in droves.

Mike, I must agree that those movies will be in that order... BUT...

It seems like everyone has forgotten about "Cars" and "Over the Hedge." Animated CG movies like to pull in really big numbers, and I'd be willing to bet "Cars" will be one of the biggest money makers of the summer. So I'd at least add "Cars" at #6 just to be safe.

Not to mention "Snakes on a Plane" will be the best movie all summer.

Yeah, I intentionally left off the the CG movies because this year's batch seem too difficult to predict. "Cars" looks like it will be the weakest Pixar movie (and I fucking hate Larry the Cable Guy) and "Over the Hedge" is based on a rather obscure comic strip. I'm sure they'll be huge, but I just couldn't figure out where they sat in that list.

"Enough is enough. I've had it up to here with these snakes!"

Yeah, Disney-MGM studios has already got "Cars" in their parade. They're banking on it.
