Random Idea: Ministry of Science

I must admit, while reading the first two sentences, Orwell's 1984 ran through my mind. Ministry of Science being run by luddites, much as the Ministry of Peace is geared for war and the Ministry of Truth churns out lies.

Although, in real terms, I can't think of any shows that have covered the idea you mention. Unless if you counted Eureka. Just make it in the style of a "Yes Minister" dry British satire and it'd be top notch.

Astro Boy (the new one), Yes Minister, West Wing (and Grant's current work) and the thick of it were inspirations churning around. I would envision it as a short six episode arc BBC style.

The thing that interests me the most is the opportunities this would present, I really like the idea of being able to examine science from this perspective.

I think this already sounds better than anything currently being released on television.

I have a vision of the series never showing the inside of a lab or people in white coats and at most some powerpoint slides with theorised graphs and images whilst being discussed by people in suits.

Awesome.

You're onto something there, by removing any idea of lab work and having it entirely in a office environment (yes minister did the same trick, as did MASH) it not only speaks well of the context but would be relatively easy to film in a location like perth.

Oooh! I like it!

Would John Clark(e), Wendy Harmer, Dr Karl Kryz - yeah him, and the guy from the kids' Helix TV show be in this?

It has to be a comedy!
