Summary: Aiba makes a visit to Jun's apartment after accepting his new acting role.
Notes: Title derived from a line in Konoyo ni Kagiri by Shiina Ringo feat. Shiina Junpei. I wrote most of this when My Girl was first announced and only finished it now since I had nothing better to do. xD
Each Arashi member had a life of their own outside of Arashi.
Nino had admitted that while he had an interest in magic, he would never really show it to anyone, let alone other Arashi members. Sho spends most of his free time with his college friends, who are working in fields that he could only dream about and are one-by-one getting married. Ohno is out fishing until the ungodly hours in the morning the next day, thoroughly enjoying his solitude from people. Aiba golfed with the TBS staff, sometimes with Shimura Ken, most of the time not. Jun mostly wanted to be left on his own during his free time to choose between buying that fedora he saw in Daikanyama or jogging down by the beach.
In reality, the only time the five of them were together would be at work. The times were they were alone together doing things they wanted to were few and far between. During interviews when they are asked "what have you done together lately?" they would have to pause to think about what had they done together lately. If there was no answer, they would just talk about the Hakone trip. And everyone wants to hear about the yakinikku outtings of Aiba and Nino. Don't forget the mails from Ohno and Matsujun with plenty of emoji. Despite the fact these stories are repeated quite often, they have yet to really hear any complaints from fans, so they continue to use them.
That's why when Aiba showed up in Matsumoto Jun's doorway at eleven at night, the owner of the condo was really terribly homgAibawhatareyoudoinghere a little shocked.
"I'm wet," Aiba said plainly.
"...that's not a turn-on for me sorry." Jun knew what Aiba was talking about. It was lightly raining outside and the raindrops didn't show on Aiba as much as on Aiba's new suede jacket. The youngest moved to the side to allow his fellow Arashi member entrance to his rarely visited apartment.
"I was going to call, but I left my phone at the bar," stated Aiba as he was fidging to decide to stand there in Matsujun's somewhat clean living room and drip there or drip on Jun's nice, new white sofa.
"Do you need to go get it?"
"No, I have my house keys and a staff member was there so they will hand it to me tomorrow."
"Oh."
Twenty mintues later Aiba was fresh out of the shower, lounging around in Jun's sweats, his own clothes in the dryer and the stained suede jacket hanging behind the door. Jun heated some left over curry just in case Aiba wanted to eat and used the dinner set with the little yellow flowers for the plate and utensils.
"Uwah, food cooked by Matsujun!" said Aiba, gripping the area of his chest over his heart. "My heart went 'kyun~'! Is this how girls feel? Kyun!"
"Stop joking around and eat. It's not much but it might help the hang over you'll get later." The chairs squeaked on Jun's floors as they
"I didn't really drink, but thank you anyway! Kyun!"
The two sat mostly in silence as Aiba ate, only the occasional slurping and the hum of Jun's air conditioner. Jun had plenty of things he wanted to ask Aiba, but couldn't bring himself to. Not with Aiba radiating warmth by simply eating his homemade curry and wearing his favorite hoodie. No, it was fine not saying anything.
"I have a role," Aiba announced rather abruptly, chewing the last bit of rice and spooning up the rest of the curry roux. "Well, I mean I'm going to do an acting gig."
"Another stageplay?"
"Drama."
So that what this was about. It became plain to Jun. So obviously plain that he was a little confused by it. This shouldn’t make sense since he understood it, but at the same time he couldn’t comprehend Aiba’s actions. This was different, yet strangely predictable. New, but not unprecedented. It is a fact that Aiba Masaki was good a surprises, so expect them.
Matsumoto Jun did not expect this.
"Drama? You don't-I mean you haven't done a drama in a long time." Aiba finished his meal, politely thanked Jun for the meal, but kept his head down.
"Yeah I know. I wanted to try. My manager thought now was a good opportunity for me to do one. I wanted to do something for a while now..."
"I know. I watched Sho's interview."
"Oshareism, right?" They were awkwardly silent. Not they should be after ten years, but they were.
Aiba insisted on doing the dishes since he was imposing and Jun simply let him. He watched as apron-clad Aiba rinsed the dishes, scrubbed them hard with the sponge to get out any curry stains, and wiped the spoon with a sort of pornographic up-down motion. Trust Aiba to make a household chore sexy.
They sat on opposite ends of Jun's couch, both their feet resting on the cushion between them lightly touching. Jun drank a glass of wine while Aiba read the script to his new drama. Jun read the cover. My Girl. Probably a romantic comedy.
"It's about this guy finding out he had a daughter with this girl he loved a long time ago," Aiba said seeing Jun's quizzical look. Jun nodded. They were getting really old when three of them took on father roles (he never really counted that time in Pikanchi Double for Sho.)
"You're a dad?"
"Yeah. Based off some manga. I read a bit. It's cute, but I have no idea how it could last thirty minutes to an hour long."
"They'll find a way. Who's in the cast?"
"I dunno. Just me for now." Aiba set down his script on the table in front of the couch and moved closer to Jun. Jun automatically opened his arms and allowed Aiba to nestle his chest. They stayed that way for a while, Jun occasionally running his fingers through Aiba's hair. Jun wasn't an affectionate person, but this was Aiba Masaki and that made a world of difference. Arashi made everything different.
"You're going to be great Masaki," Jun whispered into his hair.
"I'm not you or Ohno or Nino or Sho, Jun-chan," he muffled into Jun's shirt.
"No matter what you do I will think you're great. We will think you're great. Your family and friends will think you're great and that's all that matters." There was a silent confession of love under Jun's statement that he felt Aiba understood.
He felt Aiba's bright laugh and arms tightened around Jun's waist. Aiba looked up to his face to kiss the corner of his mouth.
"Can I read my script with you?"
"Sure."
"And stay the night?"
"Why not?"
"And kiss you some more?"
"After you read the script to me."
"I guess I should read it fast right?" Jun chuckled. Aiba swiftly picked up the book from table and lay back down with Jun's warm chest against his back. He read aloud his lines while Jun would read the others. If a scene got too long or too boring for either, they would stop to kiss for a while. Jun's lips softly parted under the pressure of Aiba's tongue. He raised his hands and cupped the back of Aiba's neck, fingering Aiba's long hair. Aiba, on the other hand, trailed his fingers lower and lower and lower. The script was soon forgotten.
Arashi didn't spend much time together, but when they did it is always well spent.
