Lady Yeshe Rabbit, who has been distinguishing herself in the Pantheacon Gender Controversy by apologizing for Z's trans*phobia all over the place, actually retired from Z's lineage over the issues raised at PantheaCon. Her explanation is at the link ( Read more... )

I was actually pretty excited to see this today. That initial excitement was tempered a little when I read the full explanation, as it's still pretty blood-mysteries-heavy, but as you say, it's a start. I found her sort of grudging use of cisgender/cissexual and the footnote of such terminology being "not the best poetic use of language" to be rather grating. Like, why do you think you get a say in the terminology here? But at least she was using it. Which is sort of the mixed reaction I had to the whole thing.

I think what she needs is time and exposure. Trans* people are a relatively small, if growing, subset of the population right now, and there's just so MUCH going on there, and some of it is very complicated, especially for a cis-person who's never had to imagine such feelings in their lives. But you get to understand it when you try. You pick up the terminology, you learn why it's in use, you cover trans* 101, and then things stop being quite so confusing. I'm hoping that's the path she and her fellows are heading down.

Not my religion, so I obviously don't know all the "ins and outs". But this looks like a step in the right direction. My opinion (which is probably worthless, since, you know, not my religion) is that anyone who says she's a woman should be included in women's rites. There shouldn't be some kind of "Yeah, but are you woman enough?" test.

But like I said, not my religion.

Not mine either, but Paganism is as much a bed as it is an umbrella, and we're all tumbled into it with each other. Kind of like you probably know a few things about the doctrinal differences of other denominations of Christianity.

Yeah, I know a few things about Catholicism. I'm married to a (very lapsed) Catholic and my in-laws follow Catholicism to varying degrees, from super religious to meh.
