Yesterday's votes- and tonight's quashing of a GOP petition to toss the health care bill based on parliamentary procedural issues- mean that the health care bill is close to becoming reality

There was a time when the Goldwater people were considered the 'nutters'. Over time, the party changed and so did Goldwater himself.

Yeah, it's kinda funny, isn't it, that Goldwater later became seen as a voice of reason.

They may have picked their ball up and gone home but at least a couple of them are thinking twice and doing the spin dance. One even listed many points of the bill saying "We would work with the Democrats on an item by item basis". Oh, so they'll play ball if it's presented individually, but make it a package deal and it's no go? Right.
