This morning I was having breakfast and at a table nearby were a guy from my hall and a girl I know a little from lectures. I think they had been studying or something, but when I sat down he was holding forth on some pet theory about Friedrich Nietzsche and Victorian literature and religion. And of course, you are correct. On one hand, it would have been rather amusing to show him the light, but there are far worse offenders. Its the sort of thing one does when one is attempting to get something, in this case, action. Speculation, of course, on my part. He may have been sharing his thoughts for purely intellectual reasons. Of course...

Hey. Thanks for reading that. Yes, he clearly was trying to pull her, but he picked a weird and basically dishonest way to do it. It's not that he was spewing bullshit that pissed me off. It's the fact that he apparently sees thinking about stuff as a way to make an impression on people above all else. I mean, there is nothing wrong at all with impressing people, but you should acknowledge to yourself that that is what you are doing, and it shouldn't be confused with other goals.
