oh, shit, bro. dang, this is amazing. i really liked their super pretentious oxbridge type discussion about the greeks, haha - they so freaking would! and i really liked your haydon characterization very much - this part A lover’s quarrel, he described it; all in his wry and apologetic way. Jim knew he was meant it as a joke because Bill wasn’t ever apologetic if he didn’t need to be. Apologetic was not his nature, which Jim liked was really telling about both Jim and Bill, and that is one of the really big strengths of your writing. you can put in all of these character facts and this stuff that would be horribly blatant in anyone else's narration but just comes off as normal or even subtle in yours.

and then this part He thought, I’m going to miss you one day. He thought, I’d do anything for you even if I had to break the law and become a fugitive though to be fair I’m always on the verge of becoming one and if anyone drives me over the edge it will probably be you and it might as well be you. >super pretentious oxbridge type discussion

ahhh was it convincing?! Yay! I had to read Herodotus last semester. Say what you will about our core, at least we can spout on and on about literary texts while sounding like intellectual douchenozzles.

Seriously though, so glad that my characterization worked. Between piecing together his dialogue and his actions I wondered if I was making him seem soft or naive but I guess in a way they are, a bit, at this point, because they've yet to enter the service. And I was unsure about Jim because I think he's the type of person who doesn't say much but still manages to expresse a lot. Or something.

Thank you for your kind comments ;___; also OKAY SO THERE IS A COMM AHA I TOTALLY KNEW THAT WHY IS MY COMMENT SO LONG WOW

i'm looking at manali's comment and my brain process is currently:

>how does she say so much beauty
>how come sono writes so beautifully
>ahhhhhhhh

but no basically this is another wonderful piece from you that captures the tragic nature of their entire relationship so well and ahhhh i have all these feelings

"OH NO FEELINGS.... TOO MANY FEELINGS....." i mean that's obviously the sign of a literary masterpiece coming up sometime soon right (no) (no it's not)

dang though you're right their relationship is TRAGIC... ugh when are you going to write some haydon/prideaux hmm youre the only one here who's even british
