I may only know a little about you, but I don't see this...persistence as something that leads to your affection? Self-assertion without arrogance, maybe. Willingness to initiate, definitely. Persistence? I don't see it. I see you batting off the person like a fly on a piece of shit. I see you getting bored with neediness, even if it is flattering. But a little ego-fluffing (or at least a good coconut...) will make one tend to be affectionate.... Very poetic.
