Adapting was easier said than done, but it happened. Now that I seem to have a solid grasp on things, I must ponder into what exactly a certain relative of mine has been up to. It doesn't seem that the public is generally accepting of those accused of committing crimes. I would imagine thievery is no exception... oops. Oh dear, I hope this doesn't ( Read more... )

[eyeroll]

Nice try, brother, but with everything being free around here, I haven't had a need to steal anything lately. [okay, so there were a few times, and he did check out the castle for any treasure way back when when everyone was up there, but that was it. ...maybe. /cough.]

Aw, you're recognizing me as family? How touching. And though you don't have a need, you can't say that old habits don't die hard.

You called me a relative first. But either way, I definitely got the better genes.

[.....WELL HE'S RIGHT but not like he's going to admit that. at least. not to him.] I have to ask, why are you suddenly so curious? At least thievery isn't as bad as, I don't know, world domination and murder.

I wouldn't be able to admit that a low-life, common good for nothing skirt chasing thief such as yourself has superior genes to someone such as myself. But... it seems this place has, unfortunately, done nothing to help your obvious deficiency when it comes to making the right decision. Given who our "father" was, I suppose it's to be expected that one of us inherited his foolishness.

Oh, you say those things as if they are bad. Are you not capable and have you not committed the same atrocities?

Trust me, I think I'm making the right decisions on my own just fine. Though if you really want, I can totally be the kid brother who gets in his older brother's way all the time. [totally smirking. and what, it's not like he hasn't already been doing that back home]

[and serious]

Hey, I don't just go around manipulating people or even killing them just to kill. The only ones I fight are my enemies and to help protect my friends. Don't lump me in the same league as you, Kuja.

You could only dream of coming close to me, Zidane.

But you do kill. Enemy or not, you are, to some subconscious level, doing your intended part. Oh, how proud Garland would be of his little angel of death... how many have fallen under your blade? You can't contest against the fact; do you not carry weapons on you? Items specifically intended for raising your chances of success in battle? Have you not slain others, man or beast? You've done your part in the past... and though you refuse to accept it, there is no running away from your destiny. Gaia, Terra, Somarium... it doesn't matter. Different worlds, same fate.

[thanks for those stinging words of truth, bro. but he's not breaking down that easily. it helps that he's already been through that whole mess]

That's where you're wrong, Kuja. The only destiny I have is the one I carve with my own two hands. You're right, I've killed both people and monsters, but I only do it when I have to. My reasons are pure and simple: to protect and defend. I'll fight for my friends, and I'll save everyone no matter what it takes.

No matter how much you try to spin those words, I know who I am and I know what I want. Even if our paths are similar, the endings are completely different. That's the difference between me and you.

[Anytime, little bro!]

You're so naive. I almost pity you... your heart is going to shed crimson tears which will drown you in sorrow and regret right before it shatters. I look forward to the performance... even if it means the beginning of your demise. [So, so very disappointed in you, Zidane.] Nothing is more beautiful than a soul desperately clinging to life, charged with so many negative emotions... you'll be a fine piece to witness right before you break.

[game face on]

Sorry, but you'll be the one crying in disappointment. I'm not going to break. [to tell him that he already won back home or not. the temptation is there but it really doesn't matter either way. Kuja's here and what happens in the future won't matter if things change here]

[Game face met.]

Ooh, making it even better for me when you finally do? You always do know how to make the conclusion something to be anticipated.

Just know that you're going down, Kuja. Anticipate that.

This wouldn't be nearly as easy if that little canary wasn't here to make things far more interesting. There's so much more at stake! How funny... you have so much, and yet there is little you can take away from me. It's almost too unfair.

Don't you even think about it, Kuja. Leave Dagger out of this!
