[Padfoot woke suddenly when the body beneath him began to twitch and writhe in response to the waning moon. He carefully backed away a step or two, trying not to watch as Moony's bones and muscles cracked and tore apart to re-arrange themselves into a Remus-shape. [Remus starts to wake hours later. From the thick muzziness of sleep he can feel just a dull ache surrounding him. There's nothing sharp and cold about the morning and for a moment he fails to be concerned and lets himself relax into that strange warmth that is enveloping his body. Then gradually his brain catches up. This isn't how he should feel this morning. He can sense someone's body behind him, the breath of someone else on his neck. So Remus turns slightly and carefully, stretching out his limbs to sense for injuries, and props himself on his elbows before frowning at Sirius's sleeping form.

[Sirius mumbles something incoherently when Remus shifts in his arms. Contrary to popular belief, he was quite a light sleeper, and he did wake up when Remus turned. He avoided opening his eyes for as long as possible, but finally he had to look at Remus, though he was sure to look sufficiently guilty when he did so.]

[Remus just continues to frown at him in silence for a very long time before he glances around the room, finally letting his gaze fall to the very empty chain on the floor. His mouth is a very thin, very white line and there's a slight twitch under his eye. His voice is low and angry] I don't even know if I should ask what you thought you were doing.

[Sirius squirms under the scrutiny, but eventually sighs and flops over onto his back, throwing his arm across his eyes.]

Moony was trying to dislocate his shoulder to get out. And your leg... I couldn't let him do it. I couldn't let you do that to yourself.
