LJ Idol, Topic 14: "Twitterpated"

Feb 13, 2012 14:12

It began when I was four. Into my life came a pair of men - no, heroes - one with piercing eyes and a swashbuckling persona, the other naive, and destined for greatness. They were joined by a man with a bullwhip and crazy-love for adventuresome archaeology. Over the years, their ranks swelled. Warrior princesses, wizards, re-imagined mythological ( Read more... )

Aww, sometimes the sad lessons are more important to learn than all others.

Unfortunately true! It'd almost be a shame if they weren't so useful.

I love your Idol posts. They always make me think. :)

I loved Xena. I was trying to figure out who you meant - the second one is Indiana Jones, maybe? And the first two guys - are they the guys from Star Wars? Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker? Also, woot Buffy! :)

I think those are great qualities to want to emulate. I want to be like that too. I want to be a good person.

You know, actually - I was sort of like B. last year. I had a group of friends who really looked up to me, and then I showed my fallible human side. You're better than the majority of them, though. You stayed friends with him and you saw him through it.

I think that you are a good person, as good as any human can be.

And yeah - change is life. We're all constantly changing. And that has its negatives, but like you said about redemption - we can also change for the better.

This was so beautifully written, and a very good treatment of the topic. Goodness knows I've idealized someone before and been burned, badly.

*hugs*

I have to admit, it made me -absurdly- excited to see that you guessed their identities! When I was writing, I was like... "Should I add more details? Is anyone gonna know? I guess we'll see."

And I think that being fallible is absolutely a part of being human. We're all gonna screw up and let the people around us down, so it doesn't seem fair to expect perfection from anyone. I'm sorry some of your friends didn't stick around through that. *hugs* And I'm glad that you think I'm a good person :) Thank you very much, as always, for the compliments and the in-depth comment!

The hard knocks make the strongest points, don't they? Of course, otherwise, I suppose we would never grow. Life has an ironic way of teaching us... easier when we don't have to keep repeating the lessons. Thanks for sharing.

Aye, they do, though this lesson wasn't terribly painful, just... sad. I am glad it's a lesson I won't need to learn twice, though. :) Thank you for reading!
