About half an hour after I put it up, I was all "Maybe I should take it down! What have I done!" But I'm glad that I left it up and also appreciative that you took the time to read it :)
if you've always loved me and only asked me to love others in return, if the essence of who you are is love, then maybe I'm not so lost as my heart fears. In essence, this is the soul of Christianity. The practice of it can get woefully far away, but this is its heart.
This was a beautiful and gut-wrenching entry, and I really feel for you.
Have you thought about the Unitarian Church at all? From what I understand of their "style," it would so much better match your heart and needs than what you grew up with. I think you might find the community and happiness there that you're looking for.
I agree with you one hundred percent. A lot of what I read in Psalms and the New Testament really emphasized how important it is to be a loving person. Like you said, though, the practice can (and often has) stray into things that feel like the exact opposite of love, to me. And I'm not actually familiar with the Unitarian Church, but you've piqued my curiousity so I will be sure to do a little research on them and maybe see if there are any local ones, if we do share the same opinions on things like this. Thank you very much for the suggestion and for taking the time to read my entry. : )
