I love the redemption in this, at last, and the unapologetic nature of understanding that life will always continue. This has so many moments of simplistic beauty. So delicate, and yet strong. So obvious, and yet poignant. Truly awe inspiring.

Very touching, and you remind me a little of The Lovely Bones here. Nice job capturing how the living have to move on, even though they don't forget.

Thank you! It's a subject I've grappled with from time to time and I think this small piece encapsulates the conclusions I drew about it... and I've heard really complimentary things about the Lovely Bones, but for some reason never did take the time to read it. Is it a book you'd recommend?

Yes - I really liked The Lovely Bones, and of course now it's easy to find used, too. It was a good book - I don't think I'll ever re-read it (sad), but I'm definitely glad I read it once.
