Today I took the in-training exam, a 200 question, 4 hour test designed to, according to our residency director, "help us assess areas of weakness so that we can tailor our learning over the next years

Perhaps the test isn't aimed at assessing your factual knowledge so much as your intuitive knowledge -- a good reason to give a test after an insufficient amount of work to prepare the test taker.
