[After trying for several fruitless days to find a chink in the armor of Tony's room that doesn't involve taking a hacksaw to the wall, Bela decided on a comparatively easy break-in to Bruce's room. Finding him unconscious and unresponsive, she's given up. In more ways than one ( Read more... )

let's make a deal, this is how i prove i don't care, just let the axe fall already, my own personal hell is right here, bela is not amused

I think wardens only get a reward if they actually help the inmate, and for some of us, getting to go back was the reward offered.

A shame how so many of you don't seem to realize that, apparently.

Or maybe they just don't know how to help people?

...wait, that sounds bad...

[A light snort.] Accidentally incriminating your fellows, now?

Cause not all the fucking wardens have a world they want to go back to either. Why d'you think they're here? Would you really choose to come here over your regular life if you actually fucking liked your regular life?

Just pointing out that there's some fucking inmates that want to fuck off home, and some wardens who've got nowhere better to go. Generalisations don't fucking work.

[Her voice takes on an angry edge.] And yet this place is supposed to, with its determination that all the inmates 'need' redemption and the wardens are capable of giving it. If generalizations don't fucking work then this whole system is still a sham.

Yeah, well. Supposedly they never did wrong and we did, so they don't have to work at getting what they want. Big ol' incentive for us.

Haven't seen much of you this week, Bells. Glad you're

And yet again I'm forced to wonder, by whose judgment? Pointless outrage, I suppose.

...I've been otherwise occupied.

By a mean little man who likes throwing us into more humiliation than we ever gave out in life. So that explains it, at least.

Glad you've found something to do, then - you haven't missed much. They say we're in a flood, though if we are it's quiet. And I don't feel much different - calmer, I guess.

I feel much the same. Certainly more centered than I have since coming here--which leads me to believe that certain absences have been a blessing in disguise.

Unaffected, are you?

Dr. Bruce Banner. He has, apparently, unique abilities that he's come here to combat.

I even have a sample of his blood, if you'd like to have a look.

What are these abilities?

Transformative. Apparently, when given the proper stimulus, he becomes an eight-foot-tall living tank with a temper.

I take it your Warden has yet to have returned? The dedication in this place seems to be lacking.

He hasn't, no. Color me unsurprised. I'm waiting for the news that he won't be returning at all, at this point.

You'd think contractual obligations would force them to stay, but inmates have gotten sent away as easily as Wardens. One truly does have to wonder about that.

I have a number of projects I'm currently working on, but may I distract you from your frustrations with another? I could use your help.

Certainly. [Her eyebrows go up.] I would welcome the change of pace.
