The Greatest Showdown In the History of Everything, part 43098

As most of you know, I am a baseball fan of some magnitude. I know things about baseball you do not know. I know things about baseball your fathers do not know. I know things about baseball that baseball does not know. It is as such -- baseball fan, baseball guru, baseball messiah -- that I enter this weekend with a heavy heart. Because you ( Read more... )

Maybe you just need to go to a Yankees vs. Sox game. The fans are HI-larious.

In other baseball news, I didn't get to go to my first baseball game because it was on Sunday. However, Eric gets to go to a game this Sunday, but I'd already given that game up to his friend since I wanted the "first" game. Sadness. I like live baseball games. And I've lucked out by being with a man who has a part of a season ticket package so I get to go to games at Fenway regularly. Most people around here can't get tickets unless they're willing to give up about 10 hours of their lives in, like, November, sitting at the computer hitting refresh over and over.

Do you really know more about baseball than *my* father?

To quote my mom, "John has subscribed to a baseball package on the computer. He can watch ballgames on the laptop with his ear phones."

That would be MLB.tv. I am considering it myself what with the "living in Sweden for two months" thing. I did consider John when writing this. If your dad and I ever really fell down the baseball hole in conversation we might never come out. He does own original copies of Bill James' 1982 _Baseball Abstract_, which is somewhat the holy grail for stats geeks and such. I once told one of James' disciples -- right before he was hired to be a stats researcher for the Red Sox' front office -- that he was on crack. Turns out, he was on crack.

Oh, you and John would come out of the baseball conversation hole as soon as we mere mortals stopped bringing you beer.

Funny, I was gonna suggest you subscribe to mlb.tv.

MLB.tv is pretty much a requirement. It's pointless to spend money on the cable package (Extra Innings) when I'm on the road so much, and MLB.tv lets me watch any game I want. Want to jump over and see Vladdy swing for the Angels during a commercial break? Done!

For the record, Dan says he'll post the Braves' preview to BBTF soon.
