One of Daimon's powers is the ability to detect other supernatural deities. He won't be able to tell your name, but he will be able to tell the difference between demons, angels, vampires, and whatever else is out there lurking. If it's detectable, Taliam West (darkcrafting) is a witch. Detect it all you want, but if you confront her about it, she's only going to be smirky and say she's a hunter, not a witch, and titles are overrated. XD

I suppose it depends on the type. Witches are usually learned, not bred. Daimon, for example, knows magic and is well acquainted with several other magicians in the Marvel Universe. :)

Super cool w/me if he sniffs out Jan, Grell, and Lazarus - Jan's recently gotten Bete Noire to boost him up to being a legit vampire, Grell's.....his world's version of the Grim Reaper, and Lazarus is a necromancer with magic in his blood, so it's genetic.

Also, he probably smells like formaldehyde and sadness a lot of the time.
