or......only truly proven way to lower prices-start using less gas, carpool, get more fuel efficient vehicles, bike, walk. The oil companies are well aware that they have the American people right where they want them, and gas prices are not coming down anytime soon. So, the best way to actually lower prices would be to mess up the supply demand curve.

Also, Exxon and Mobil would most likely just sell of their gas to the other major companies, and laugh all the way to the bank.

I would not like to rock that boat, but I would like to point out that we still have by far the cheapest gas in the industralized world

The current market price for unleaded gasoline is $84/barrel which translates to $1.68 a gallon. On top of that you have to add taxes, cost of transportation, operating costs of the gas station, and then profit. Gas costs more because the price of crude has tripled in the past few years, and as the price of gas hasn’t even doubled one can surmise that the gas companies are actually making less money then they were.
My mom sent me that email too, but the only way to have cheaper gas would be for the price of crude to go down. So you’re more likely to save money by buying wherever it’s cheapest rather than boycotting a particular chain in hopes that it’ll go down.
