Mind the Gap!

On my way home tonight, I was standing on the subway platform, and a young woman fell into the gap between the platform and the train! It was on the 4/5/6 platform at Union Square, which is curved, so the gap is a bit bigger than normal. I was playing Nintendo DS, not paying too much attention because it wasn't the train I needed. But the train ( Read more... )

I'm sure it was. She was wailing and sobbing on the ground for awhile and the man whom I think pulled her up had his hands on her shoulders and was telling her not to move.

When she calmed down some, I offered to call someone for her but she said no. I guess that'd be weird anyway. Even if I could get ahold of someone, she'd have been at the hospital by the time they'd be able to get anywhere. *shrugs*

She was being looked after, so I just left. Poor gal. I'm so glad she's OK though. Those stories sometimes don't end well.

PS Yay Zack Braff icon.

The Muppet Closet made more sense after I turned my speakers on. Nifty!

I'm glad the lady got rescued, but good on you for having a plan to help.

that's INSANE! i never understand those people that try to force themselves into a train that's packed. of course we all get on crowded trains sometimes, but it's like, if you have to shove everyone 6 inches in, just wait for the next one!

RE: Gap minding

HOLY CRAP! Glad she's *mostly* ok. That happened to my sister, and she too was aided by kind strangers.

RE: MC

DAHAHAHAH, Never leave Frank and Jim alone in a room together for too long. Those guys were goofy as hell.

Mind the Gap!! Oh mercy... That's so scary, and I am so worried that something like what will happen when I'm standing and waiting for a train. That would be awful!

On the Jubliee Line on the London Tube they have doors that open once the Train has come to a complete stop. MERCY!

I'm always a-feared that the London train is going to decapitate me when the doors close!
