I was hopeful that Obama would win. But I had no idea how amazing the victory would be. I believe the country-club effect was real, and the Tom Bradley effect is history. Goodness and truth will prevail

Thomas L. Friedman actually referred to it in his Thurs. Op. Ed article in the Houston Chronicle, but he called it the Buffett Effect (I guess for Jimmy Buffett??) It is white Republicans telling the guys at the country club that they are voting for John McCain, but then going into the booth and voting for Obama. It seems to have been reality.
With all the current reports of in-fighting within the Republican Party, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it happened at very high levels. The prospect of Palin as VP must have been terrifying for many.
