Who've gone exactly what you are describing. Obviously there's some feelings of guilt or remorse because of potential backlash about your decision.

You have to ask yourself this. Is the worst case backlash, worth the best case reward, or even the worst case reward. Cause most likely you will get the worst case of the backlash, and it's far from certain what you will get for a reward. Typically the guilt and remorse make any reward lessened anyhow, now matter how good it was. Sadly movies have greatly skewed the truth of life alot.
