A New Kind of Pseudo-science?

Different people use words differently, especially when multiple disciplines use the same word in ways that are unique to the discipline. Pseudo-science is one such word. People in the "hard" sciences use it to refer to "soft" sciences. People in the "soft" sciences use it to refer to the mytho-poetic use of scientific jargon. The way I use it ( Read more... )

Kaku is more at home talking about theoretical physics and the stars. He should do some reading on what John Hopkins is doing with the brain. Specifically thought controlled prosthetics and brain-machine interfacing. It turns out we are on the verge on sending message to the brain after all.

His theoretical physics talk is so watered down it hurts. As for sending messages to the brain, there has been extensive work in the area of brain/machine interface that Kaku seems to think is impossible. It is not simply a matter of being "on the verge." It is a matter of polishing the technology for mass use.
