I watched the Boy In The Striped Pyjamas today. Oh my god. What an amazing but upsetting film.

Although it's based on a book, it's very powerful. The film is strong and the story, all credit to John Boyne, is an amazing take on Hitlers time in power. Having the story told from the childrens point of view, more than the parents or adults in general ( Read more... )

Saw a few adverts for that film, but it never came to a cinema nearby, so I will definitely take your advice and hire it when it comes out on DVD here :)

I think it's good when directors create movies about historic events in different ways. It really does help to expand your knowledge (though I know you should never get all your historical knowledge from "Hollywood" movies!) and the different perspectives make it more relatable and easier to remember.

Thanks for posting a review of this film, its nice to see people's reactions to movies of a more sensitive nature.
