the first time - part 4
it was 9:45 the morning after sian felt a lump in sophies breast, but as usual sophie thought it was nothing as was fast asleep next to sian, who had been awake all night worrying, she couldnt handle it anymore, she needed to make sophie go to the doctors, just to be safe, sian leaned over and stroked sophies shoulder
"soph, wake up"
"huh? whats up? what time is it?" sophie said all dazed
"9:45, but i need to talk to you"
"it better be good if its this early"
"i want you to get that lump checked out"
"sian i told you, its nothing"
sian sat up in bed
"but how do you know? i dont know what i would do if it was bad and i lost you, i cant even think about it" sian said bringing a tear to her eye, sophie sat up in bed realising how much this bothered sian
"sian your not gonna loose me, im always gonna be hear with you, if your that worried then we will go to the doctors today"
"thank you babe" sian said as she leaned over to kiss sophie, sian suddenly pulled away and covered her mouth
"sorry, morning breath!"
"sian, nothing can stop me from kissing you" sophie laughed as she pulled sian back in to kiss again
it was one week after sophie had her scan taken and they were both sat waiting in the doctors office
"hello girls" the doctor said, as he sat opposite them
"well? what is it?" sian said anctioustly as she grabbed hold of sophies hand
"well . . . . im afraid its bad news, we found cancerous cells in your breast"
"oh my god" sian said, as she sobbed and clung herself around sophie, who was sat like a statue, pale, no expression, not knowing what to do . . .
"the good thing is that we caught it early, i have scheduled you in for surgery in 4 days, then once you have healed we will start the chemotherapy"
"the good thing?! good thing?! there is nothing good about this!" sian shouted at the doctor, then she turned to sophie, babe, say something, please"
" . . . i need to tell mum . . . now" sophie said in the quietest voice "thank you doctor"
sophie stood up and walked towards the door, as soon as the door closed behind them, sophie stood still, and burst into tears, sian said nothing, just wrapped her arms around her as tight as she could, it felt like they were in there own little bubble,
"im always gonna be here for you babe, never forget that"
"i wont" sophie sobbed, "we need to go to mine and tell mum"
sophie walked into her house with sian
"oh sophie!" sally yelled, "where have you been!" but she soon flung her arms around her
"um, is rosie and dad here?i need to talk to you all"
"yeah your dads in the conservatory and rosies in her room"
"i need to tell you all something"
"kevin! rosie!" sally yelled, they soon came running
"babe i'v missed you!" rosie said as she gave ehr a hug
"whats this news you have then?"
"i think you should all sit down" sophie said, as sian already started to cry
"c'mo soph, your scarin us now" rosie said
"um . . well . . i'v been to the doctor because i found a lump on my breast"
sally gasped and covered her mouth
"its cancer" sophie couldnt hold back the tears any longer,
"oh sophie!" sally cried as she flung her arms around her
"sis!" rosie also sobbed as she joined in on the hug, as did kevin, sian couldnt hold back any longer and wrapped her arms around them,
"your gonna get through this soph" kevin said in the family hug, and at the same time accepting sophie and sian into the family as a couple.
"soph, wake up"
