No, it's corporate mentality. If you are looking for another job then you are not 'loyal' to the company and the best thing to do is find a way to replace you with someone who is 'loyal'. Our contract is coming up for renewal in August, so they could easily just not bid my position in the next negotiation. Leaving me swinging in the wind.
It was Kerry, btw, the only work person I invited to my Christmas party, really the only one at work I thought was my friend.
i wonder if the 'weather'/whether comment was some sort of freudian slip. ;-)
anyway, what your coworker did was out of line; unless he's a stupid person, he should've known better and even then, could've checked w/you before blabbing!
do you know when you'll find out about the possible new job offer?
and, are you talking about the same fella whose political ideology often conflicts w/your own but who is good about debating/conversing fairly on such topics?
Yep, that's the guy. He's not stupid, he did it for his own self interest. It's kinda complicated, upcoming contract negotiations and stuff. But, totally out of line. AND, not to be too whiney, he got mad at me and tried to say it was all my fault that he broke a confidence. That's not exactly the way he put it, but it was as silly and irrational the way he put it.
There you go, not everyone in the world is honest and trusting and good. I forget sometimes.
But...that's all behind me now, going out to drink martinis and look at pretty girls! Yay me!
Oh, and sorry you're not getting much in the way a great law school news...I think you should come back to Austin and be a slacker for a while, not because I think it will help you in your future, just cause I want to hang out.

I hope you get the job, too, now more than ever.
