Dogs are not very friendly to gardens. I planted an herb garden once just outside my backdoor. Then, one of the dogs decided that was the perfect place to take a nap, all day long. Now I have no herb garden. I'm a little worried about having a vegetable garden in the backyard but I just may have to line the garden with some of that spray stuff that dogs don't like.

I actually tried the spray stuff and it didn't do much with Gus, but I think it kept Sophie and Hank at bay.

For the garden beds, I think I'll get some chicken wire and make little cages around the beds to begin with. It's the initial loose dirt mmmm digging goodness I think that's the problem.

Yeah, I think puppies are immune to that kind of stuff. Even cayenne pepper didn't stop my puppies.

I think going on the outside of your fence is probably what you'll have to do for now. Chicken wire won't stop Gus. It should stop the older dogs so I'll think about getting some of that too. I'll be getting some for the compost heap anyway.

ach, sorry to hear your hard work was for naught. or should that be naughty?

i told dana i went to tomlinsons the other day and saw a couple of hedgehogs. since then, she will not stop talking about them, emailing me photos of them, or telling me that her birthday's coming up. while it won't happen in time for her b-day (it's not as though our cats are already peeing on the couch or anything with the stress of the move...), i have promised her a prickly pal for the future. its name will be pickles, i am told. ahh, the creatures. bless 'em.
