The joys of spring break...

Mar 28, 2009 06:55

I thought that I would follow my fellow beach bunnies down to Miami or Daytona or perhaps out to Cali. You know, put on my yellow bikini, grab a few cosmos, and look extremely pleased to be pole dancing with twelve other blond chicks and a brunette (for variation), all for the sake of some hairy guys drinking beers and the MTV crew (who really must ( Read more... )

You're absolutely right; Revolution is a much more appropriate song. Just as I don't know my T.S. Eliot, I also have a very incomplete knowledge of the Beatles. And life. :-D

Eyes dropping to the table ... oh, the joys of editing!

Hope you're having a good start to your weekend!

I immediately thought of "Lennon read a book on Marx," from American Pie. (The song, not the movie.)

I'm so sorry you're sick! Hope you feel better soon. Perhaps you caught Shiv's cold? (Hey, if computers can get viruses ...)

Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier! If I caught Shiv's cold, I feel bad for her! And I had no idea that line was in American Pie. I'm one of those lame-o people who only know the "bye, bye Miss American Pie" part of the song. That is the song, right?

Btw, how'd the auction turn out? Did the biddy who bid 50.00 win? I hope she makes a good request!

I listened to '50s and '60s music as a kid -- yeah, I was eleven going on forty -- so I can sing along with lots of those songs. :-)

The $50 bidder did indeed win. And the auction raised more than $25,000! At least that's what I took from the email the organizers sent out -- I'm pretty sure they meant just this auction, not the total from this and previous ones.

Dude! Once you're like totally hopped up on cold meds or cough syrup (take a double-dose), surf over to my fan fic archive and leave a review. It's totally when everyone else tends to do that. Srsly.

Rough draft moments are love.

Srsly.

*cough* I hope you're feeling better soon. And back to pole dancing with your home girls.

Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. (I was too busy pole dancing. ;-D)

Do you get a lot of weird reviews? (Which archive?) Let's blame the cold medicine on my recent review on your flash fiction!

No, I really don't get too many odd ones, just kind of no-brainer ones.

Your review was perfect. I'm tweaking that piece into something a bit more surreal.

Here in California, Spring Break is remarkably quiet. Of course, I'm in Northern California... where pole dancing probably originated, in the topless clubs in San Francisco's North Beach. Now I want to research this.

Sorry to hear you are sick, but good to hear from you, nonetheless.

ETA: Er... that's pole, but people dance at the polls, too. Sorry for the inbox spam!

Hey there! Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier! So, what's the word on pole dancing? ;-D And you're right: poll dancing also is likely to have originated in Northern California!

How's life treating you?

*waves* I hope life is treating you well too, Sophie. Alas, I did not make it down to "spring break" either, not even as the token brunette. ;-) But then, days spent in one's PJs with a good supply of Kleenex and nary a student to be seen/heard sound kind of awesome to me, so I guess I'm not MTVs target audience.

Take care, and good luck in the coming busy months!

Thanks, Grainne! I think they should start a channel just for us. You know, one that features dark, brooding men, smart and charming women, and a good laugh. Wait - that's fanfic, isn't it? ;-D Oh, I sometimes miss the good old fanfic days.

Best to you, too, in the busy months ahead!

The minute MTV start producing a spring break special for ex-fanficcers on NPR, we are so there, my friend. I have a little number I've been saving up to wear on radio. ;-)

Thanks for the good wishes, and best of luck with all your endeavors!
