A warmish night last night, and the first bogans of Spring were warbling outside my window until 2am. Three drunken women opinionising -- well I can't disapprove of that as a principle but pleeeeease, pleeeeease, why so loud? And so it begins ( Read more... )

Sexuality - strong and warm and wild and free
Sexuality - your laws do not apply to me
Sexuality - come eat and drink and sleep with me
Sexuality - we can be what we want to be

Oh, I've got a whole bunch of tapes, too. Plus - mix tapes! Some of them lovingly decorated. (My brain fails me - what do you call the paper bit that goes in a cassette case? I want to say 'sleeve'.)

I'm hoping to train the drunkards who stagger past my house on Friday and Saturday nights to vandalise the ugly plastic banner someone's hung outside the church.

Tapes are so adorable. And tactile! I hear the young people, to whom this technology is but a rumour, have taken to wearing cassettes around their neck as tribal jewellrey. O well!

A mix tape as a gift was a work of art, as it took a whole afternoon to make. Mix cds and mix playlists just don't have the same load of loving effort, do they?

My favourite drunken moment that epitomises drunken opinionising:

[girl sitting on the curb in a quiet suburb at 6am, short skirt hitched up too high, clearly having rolled down from the mardi-gras celebrations by virtue of 'keep walking downhill' navigation]

Girl to friend: "Should I call him? Because like... he said he'd call me. And. I should. Should I call him? I should totally call him"

Friend: You should totally call him... what. It's like. What's the time? He's totally awake.

I was jogging past. I held my tongue with an effort.

There's just no helping some people is there.

"It's like. What's the time? He's totally awake".
