Soph! As discussed, fandom is still here [kind of!] so hurrah for finding something to fan over. And George seems to be a very nice young man so it's all good. xx
Jaq! Thank god for Bill's. You all made me YEARN, I felt like such a fogey! (Also I was impressed no end by your passionate elucidations of UK politics.)
I had forgot the pleasures of a benign obsession with a completely harmless actor. And am delighted that the internet hasn't entirely become a feral wasteland of snarling goblins. There are still kindly pockets, inhabited by sweetly squeeing writers of cheeky fic. OH THANK GOD.
Now I must find all my flisty peeps and your new names and where you is.
Kashmir! I remember you! How lovely. I feel like some antarctic explorer (except not as interesting), returend after years to the salons of home. When I get a chance I'll read my flist and see what you're been up to.
This is so wild I just read your book the other day (still just as awesome) and I was thinking about you. I was actually lurking on other parts of the internet looking for you. Are you on other parts of the internet?
Ahah that's so funny -- you read my book again? My god what a compliment. And a coincidence. That damn book veered me right away from fandom but it's been ten years so thankfully I am returning. At least I hope so. After the niceness of early-adoption blogging with LJ (I am not averse to bragging of our early achievements) I got really cranky with modern internet and use nothing at all except a facebook Page for my readers. Ach. I'm hopeless at being modern.
I have been doing okay. Life has been...strange for the both of us, these past six years. I've done a few things of note, but mostly I have been stuck in a little rut of my own making. I'm glad to see you back, though.
The time it has flown, non? Though filled with so much life. I feel a million years from the girleen who had my old LJ. But in a good way, mostly. I have missed it so, though -- not least the free time to stay up for hours every night with my flist, and the ability to write for FUN.
I hope your six years have been life-ful, too. Even a bit of a rut usually has wrinkles.
Time is a weird thing. Look at you, all quasi-married with a delightful, wee sprog, and my daughters are technically now responsible adults (hah!) aged 21 and 18, and isn't that a terrifying thought? Have a great time rediscovering the pleasures of fandom. It may be too much to hope for that you might have the time to write fic, but if you were to, it would be warmly welcomed, just saying. And I haven't even seen Vikings but would read it nonetheless. (I never get to watch tv these days, but lurk in the Supernatural and NCIS fandoms *gives thanks for dvd box sets*)
