07; written/action for housemates, forward dated to very early morning

Sep 18, 2011 20:29

[sleep has an odd habit of eluding people when they tend to need it-- and normally, after an evening of participating in theatre and enjoying the following celebration, Sora would be face first into his pillows and passed out cold, possibly before anybody else in the house did ( Read more... )

[Hey Other, have a Roxas coming through the front door about the time that message broadcasts on the journal. He's trying to be quiet as he sneaks into the kitchen, assuming that everyone's still asleep as he approaches the fridge. He's opening the door and poking his head inside to see what he can find, glancing out of the corner of his eye a bit. It's about then he spots someone sitting at the table and he nearly jumps in surprise, quickly shutting the fridge.]

Hey. What are you doing up?

[Sora'd noticed Roxas wandering in, but chose not to say anything to avoid surprising him. that... didn't work out so hot, but when he's greeted, he lifts a hand in a tired little wave.]

Too much excitement earlier, I guess. What about you?

Getting some early morning training in. [Or late night, whichever. It's another one of those days.] I'm just glad I beat the sun this time. [He's going to head to the table, sitting down across from him.]

Rough night?

[how is it that his heart children are so much better at getting up early than he is? it's certainly not a talent Sora ever had.]

Yeah, kind of. Just thinking a lot.

[ Xion has always been prone to odd, odd hours of night. Constant nightmares will do that. Not to mention she's a light sleeper when she's not in some sort of memory coma. Today she just happens to wake up at an odd hour, after a dream she just can't remember (darkdarkdarkness), and decides, as with many other similar nights, to just get a drink of water and try again.

She comes up quite short when she sees Sora. It's ... really not like him to be awake. Startled, she pauses in the doorway, adjusting the light blanket she's got draped over her shoulders. It's weird ... he looks so -- pensive, watching the sun come up. It's kind of ... she's seen looks like that on him before, but it still doesn't seem ... natural, somehow. ]

Sora?

[ She pads in, watching him curiously and with a hint of concern, her bare feet hardly making a sound. ]

[Sora is suddenly keenly aware of the notion that he might be one of the few in their busy little household who normally sleeps soundly through the night. that thought-- and Xion's voice-- is what breaks him out of staring out the window; he scoots his chair back slightly so he can turn to look at her.]

Hey, Xion. [every spike of hair is in its normal spot, not a lick of bedhair. his head hasn't hit the pillow at all tonight.]

[ ... she smiles, after a beat, and pulls her blanket more tightly around her shoulders as she moves slowly to the edge of the table. ]

It's weird to see you up this late. Or ... early, I guess. [ Her voice is gentle, and there is a soft question tucked beneath her words. ]

I might get pegged as lazy if I sleep in every day.

[his tone and sense of humor are light enough, at the very least. Sora watches Xion, and nudges a chair in her direction with his foot if she cares to have a seat.]

What're you doing up?

[Soraaaa. Needless to say, Ven's a little worried when he catches sight of this message, so he'll quickly respond.]

You could get something to cover 'em, like armor. It's not very comfortable, but at least it keeps them safe.

That could work, especially if you're caught up in a fight.

How come you're awake, Ven?

Yeah, but wearing it all the time would be kind of a pain. I can switch into mine whenever I want, but I know it's not that easy for everyone.

[As for that next bit--]

Well, I was looking at the stars earlier, but I guess it's pretty late now. Or maybe early.

[Heh, heh, details.]

I'll probably take a nap later to make up for it.

Where did you get your armor again?

I'll probably need a nap later today, too.

[Despite being up rather late the night before, Selphie's still up at the proverbial asscrack of dawn.]

Have you thought about getting some armor, Sora?

[sleep is for sissies!]

Yeah, it might be worth it even if it's uncomfortable. What do other people here usually do?

[When you've been setting up a stage and a party and your boyfriend wants to do... certain recreational activities, sleep is definitely not for sissies.]

Well, the armor that I've got for training is customized to have more room in the back for my wings. z.z

[fighting the good fight then, Selphie.]

Really? Where'd you get your armor?

[Sometimes Kairi wakes up at odd hours, whether out of her own subconscious decision or from waking up from a dream. Whenever she wakes though she always is sure to check the journals, just in case. So when she sees Sora's message she's a bit surprised to know her best friend's awake. Carefully getting out of bed and keeping most of her weight off of her right leg, she'll be heading out to the kitchen. It takes her a little while to get there, but eventually she comes up to Sora's side, a hand resting on his shoulder.]

Sora?

Kairi-- what are you doing awake? Your leg isn't hurting, right?

[fret, fret, fuss, fuss. he can't help it, even though somewhere in his mind he's considering how grateful he is for the company.]

No it's fine, I promise. [She's going to sit down though. She's still not too comfortable standing on it for long periods of time.] I just woke up and saw you were up. [She waves toward the journal, yawning a little bit as she peers down into it.] So I guess that's my question. What are you doing awake? You're rarely up this early, if ever.

I dunno. It's been a while since I saw the sun rise, I guess.

[actually, one might say that the last time Sora was awake to see the sun rise was when he last went fishing with his dad. kid's usually exceptionally good at sleeping in. in any case, Kairi's likely to see right through him, and Sora knows it, so he then just offers a helpless shrug.]
