glory and victory

This is the last one I've got written in this set, I'll probably pick up writing it more later. When I think of things to write. This one actually mentions Sora and takes Seph's point of view.

I don't own the characters or setting, so don't sue.

"Does it make you feel better?" she asked.

My grip on Masamune tightened; how I wanted to turn and strike her down. Such an insolent tone she takes with me. As if she was my mother!

Her eyes, so bright, so deep, so expressive stared me down from where she stood with her hands clasped behind her back, hair fluttering in the updraft sweeping over the ledge we stood on. How she'd gotten here - how she'd found me, I don't know...

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Stepping closer, she gestured towards the swarm of Heartless below; at Sora, attacking an army of a thousand by himself. "Does it make you feel better?"

Not understanding, I turned to look at Sora. The boy had gotten better since the last time I'd seen him. Certainly taller, but beyond that, he had more control in his strikes, more balance. He used his surroundings to his advantage better. He would be a fine warrior one day.

But did it make me feel better?

Just to be contrary, I replied, "No."

She looked up at me with those eyes, bottomless pools of Lifestream. She was frowning ever so slightly. Was that a victory for me?

I was still confused on what she meant by her question.

"Why do you fight?" she asked me suddenly.

I could do little but stare at her.

"Everyone has a reason," she insisted. "Sora wants to protect the ones he loves. Leon wants to protect the world he loves."

"I fight," I stated, interrupting her. I didn't want to hear everyone else's reasons.

A bitter taste filled my mouth, but I continued anyway, "I fight to prove my worth."

"To prove you're worth something."

Angry, I spread my wing and stepped forward, leaping off the ledge, spiraling down to one below. I wasn't going to put up with her attempts to interpret me.

...after all, she's wrong...
