You know what?

I'm going to Otakon 2007. The only thing that's going to keep me from going is not getting the time off from work, or some sort of super financial disaster. I don't see the vacation time as being a problem, since Wal-Mart gives vacation time to associates who have been working at the store for over a year. SO! My one year aniversery would be in May ( Read more... )

OH. MY. GOD! AAAAAAAHSOEXCITED!!!!!

OHMYGOD!

Ok.

Ahem, yes. Otakon will have a 98% chance of being in August. The only time it wasn't held in August was 1999 (July 4th weekend) and 2002 (last weekend of July). It's been held as late at the 20th of August, but the normally target the first weekend of that month. SO WORD. But by 8/6/06, you will know the dates of 2007's convention.

OMG TINGLES. *dies* I don't remember if I mentioned this a while ago when I initially brought it up but you'll want that Thursday as well. (You can pick up your registration that Thursday night instead of doing it the morning of the convention).

I think I'll probably just try to take the whole work week off. Grant it, that will kill my paycheck, but oh well. It means I'll have more days to enjoy, as well as some extra time to shift back into graveyard-shifts mode.

I think I might try to set myself up with a red-eye flight.. It will be cheaper and it wouldn't bother me cause I'm awake at those hours anyway. Might bother my rides, though. hehee

Yeeeeaaaaaaaaah catching a cab at that hour may be tricky, HAHAHAHAHAAA! XP

LMAO!

Oooh boy...but on a serious note, if you do the red eye you'll be doing Friday morning check-in which is...trust me...maddening. People will line up at 6 am to nab their registrations and you'll be stuck in an insane line for a good 2 hours or more. Now, the difference doing this on Thursday evening is the line usually moves faster (as there are no people trying to pay at-door) and you won't be frustrated knowing there's a convention going on and you're stuck in line with 30 minutes left to go! o.O The Friday line is always hellishly worse.

But I understand the cheaper factor...that's really what will decide for you, I think. Luckily we still have lots of time.

Originally I was going to suggest trying to get something that lands around 4 pm, that way you have enough time to get situated at your hotel, eat some dinner (CHEESECAKE FACTORY, YUMMEH!), then mosey on over to the line.

FUN WITH JET LAG.

Well see, I have Tuesdays and Wensdays off by default, so I could do a red-eye, fly out on Teusday evening/ Wensday morning and land sometime in the afternoon on Wensday. So it would work out well.

Hold off requesting time off until the dates are confirmed -- I am not sure myself when Otakon 2007 is going to be and I work the bloody thing. Either way it will be in late July - late August.

But I will see you there barring any really hideous stuff this year ^_^

Good, good. I want to run into some MMO people.. just preferably the intelligent ones (like you).

And yeah, I wont be asking until the dates are confirmed. I ment to say that in the entry but I was just about to go to bed when I wrote it so I left it out. lol

I think that's pretty much the only thing that could be an issue for me going as well. Both those things. Grar.

Now all I have to do is find a damned job... ^^;
