New episode!

I had a lot of fun with tonight's episode. First of all, I really liked the fact that Woolsey actually takes sensible precautions like not letting the entire command staff leave at once. Back in Reunion (and I mean no disrespect to Sam Carter), I found myself going, "Wait. So they've lost their military commander and chief scientist and diplomat/negotiator/all-around-kick-ass in a Wraith hive ship, and their solution is to throw more senior staff at the problem?"

Also it does make a lot of sense to use people in some situations precisely because they aren't already connected to them in complicated ways. Such as a history of life-sucking and/or naming someone after your ex-boyfriend.

I have a burning need to know what Chuck and Sheppard were reading - anybody get a good screen shot or recognize the covers? I loved John's moment of total confusion when Chuck called him over the PA system. For a second when he'd just woken up, I'm convinced he thought Chuck was somehow magic.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there weren't any specific references to the gender(s) of Janus's lovers. Which I like, because I've decided that he's probably bi. If only because pretty much all the other Ancients in Atlantis at that time seem to have been prissy, stuck-up jerks, so anybody who wanted somebody interesting would've been lining up to hit that.

I was impressed with what they came up with for the secret door mechanism, but I was a little skeptical of Rodney's initial skepticism that the lights couldn't possibly be the secret key - especially after he'd just made a Batman reference! And yet he was all, "That's madness! No one would ever make something innocuous be the key mechanism to opening their secret lair!"

I continue to find Todd a cool and interesting character. I also liked his point about the fact that the prospective gene therapy would have a massive impact on the Wraith's lives as a whole. It's not an issue to be considered lightly for them. Although I would've killed to hear somebody respond to Todd's, "But then what would we do?" with "You could take up crocheting!"

It occurs to me that Woolsey didn't have the best position to protest Atlantis's innocence in regard to the hyperspace-kablooey thingy. His argument was basically "Hey, just because we've jumped at every chance to double-cross or otherwise screw over dangerous semi-allies doesn't mean we did it this time." But I still like him a lot.

This isn't related to the show, but I saw a lot of that commercial that ends with "Love. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru." And I always want to tack on something like, "...and not a hateful, rage-filled Chevy" (or another brand).

On a final note, I am filled with glee by the fact that Rodney and John's telepathic wavelength link of true love works over the wide expanses of space to allow them to have the exact same idea at the exact same moment. Oh, boys!
