We'll have to keep that in mind. Honestly though, we really like our realtor. Right up front at the place we were looking at she said "I wouldn't pay more than $90,000 for this place," and the place was priced at $149,000"
things vary somewhat from state to state anyway, but i know he can give you general background information about the whole process. he says that if he can only give you one piece of advice, it would be to remember that it's fundamentally retail sales, with everything that implies, beginning with caveat emptor.
I saw that ice cream at the store last night! But it wasn't on sale, so I bought Snickers ice cream instead. And I already bought a box of thin mints from my ex-boss. :) I'm totally supporting the girl scouts.
And our gas bill was disgustingly high too. I'm tired of this spending money stuff, I think we should just stop doing it.
Looking at houses is fun! Sooooooo scary and stressful, but it's really fun to peek into other people's houses and try to figure out if it could end up being your house. Good luck with it, I hope you find a really cool place. :)

Keep in mind that this is set by the town you live in. However, those that have the higher rates (generally) have the better roads and schools. That's a balancing act.
Or you could live where we do, where the crap towns have to try to keep up with the good town that gets property taxes from Lockheed.

I think you misunderstand me. Our taxes are higher than they probably should be due to that. Prices are lower (much lower), but taxes are higher. We're probably paying an equivalent tax to 3 or 4 times our houses worth in the next town over.
It's a number you want to make sure to check with any homeowner that you are considering buying from, for sure.
