The biggest new thing in my life right now is that I'm going to be an aunt. My brother and sister-in-law found out a few weeks ago that she's pregnant. I'm happy for them and they're happy (they've been trying), but there's also alot of new tension in the family. For some reason unknown to me, I'm turning into the family mediator. being conscious shouldn't be too bad. it was a little weird/awkward when i had it done but i was glad i could just go home and not deal with any grogginess from being knocked out or anything. plus i didn't like the idea of being knocked out to begin with. if you find a need for more variety in soft foods, let me know. i might have a few suggestions up my sleeve from when i had 4 wisdom teeth out. blenders are a wonderful thing. :)

When I had mine out, they didn't put me under general anesthesia, but gave me enough local and happy gas that I slept through most of it anyway. You'll be alright :) Love you!

Man, I told them they weren't pulling anything from anywhere unless I was completely KOed. You've got brass ones for taking the local.

Listen, this mural: can't be complete without Birdo. Best transgendered video game character evar.

the two teeth i had pulled last week were wisdom teeth, or the remnants thereof. i had nothing but novocaine and nitrous oxide, but at least they gave me plenty of both. it wasn't fun, but it really wasn't that bad either. i only had to limit myself to soft foods for maybe three or four days - and, by the second day, "soft foods" included stir-fried tofu, scrambled eggs, and a whole lot of other regular foods that just aren't terribly chewy or crunchy. after a week, only one of the two extraction sites still hurts, and only if i try to chew on that side. but i'd kill for a bagel!

meanwhile, Ray and i were both very surprised at how quickly i'm recovering. as much as i preferred being completely under, i think that interfered with recovery and healing. anyway, i'm going to have four root canals (one or two at a time), starting in three weeks. we can complain to each other about our dental horrors ;-)

congratulations to your brother and his wife, and to you on your impending aunt-hood. and more congratulations to you for your artwork!
