How Much Does a Deity Need on a Calling Card?

So I've been pondering a question as a result of having bought the new Fray CD. Specifically as a result of having listened to the song You Found Me lots and lots. The question is "If God(dess) could call you to talk to you, how often should he/she?"

I don't want to give away what I've come up with as an answer just yet. I want people to think ( Read more... )

Hm. Well, given the world population according to Wikipedia (6,783,421,727 as of May 31 this year based on US Census Bureau), if a deity spent 1 second a piece on every person, it would be 215 years or so between visitations. That's assuming zero population growth, which is of course not the case. Since the human lifespan isn't that long, it stands to reason that some people simply won't get visited this time around. I'd say this is a good argument for polytheism... too much work for just one deity.

So, if I had my choice... I'd like a visitation maybe once a year.

since i'm not in the habit of bothering my Deities whenever i feel cranky, i would like Them to reply when i do ask. and i'd also like Them to speak up whenever They have some vitally important information for me. so They might contact me anywhere from several times in one day (in the midst of a crisis), to once a week or so, to several months from one contact to the next.

if i were a Deity myself, i think i'd try to talk to My worshippers once a week or so. but you know i have a tendency to micro-manage ;-)
