I'm so braindead right now all I can say is that it's another good one; I love the humor and the flow of conversation's punctuated with just the right amount of details. :)
One thing that bothered me though: light doesn't...spurt. o_o *pedantic physics student*
There's something inconsistent with the act/event of spurting and light itself. When you say "spurt" you'd usually refer to something material, something that has shape and whose movement the eye can observe like liquid or a plant. Light does not behave in the way those things would, so the verb doesn't coincide with the noun in your case, and the overall product is an ineffective image.
Robert Browning isn't using "spurt" to describe light in that line; he's referring to the flame, which is the source of light and not light itself. :)
I envy your Physics knowledge! I opted not to take any difficult subjects in UP (I'm avoiding Math, Chem and Physics like the plague), so I do not know how the word really works. xD (Reminder to self: check wikipedia once in a while)
HAHAHAHAHA! BRILLIANT. :3 Now, I wish me and my oh-so-gay half-brother communicate. Anyway... my younger brother is 1% close to being gay anyway. XD This fic is the love and going to my memories. ♥

I have a bunch of gay friends, but they're all idealistic (no sex!). I mean, it's really amusing. xD

Hmmm, let's see:
Spurt:
A sudden forcible gush or jet.
A sudden short burst, as of energy, activity, or growth.
And another: (excerpt from Robert Browning's Meeting at Night, which I randomly found)
And blue spurt of a lighted match,
Is it still inappropriate to use it, then? *is really confused* Should I change it?
