Question about clans, internet browsers

Are clans necessary? I know you can finish the game without them, but am I missing things by not joining a clan? I'm fairly new to the game, a level 15 Turtle Tamer and a level 14 Disco Bandit, and haven't ever ascended, if that helps your decision

Don't be! You don't even have to say anything if you don't want - just come idle in chat, if you feel like talking about whatever is going on in /normal, go for it. If not, whatever!

Also, if you joing a larger clam like KoL Addicts, you won't be forced into being social, and you can reap the benefits (and donate to the benefits) without revealing yourself at all, if you just want to be left alone. Clams are not strictly a social medium, they're also legit gameplay tools.

(Also also, I know I pimp KoL Addicts somewhat heavily, but they were my first clam when I joined back in the day, and they are extremely helpful to the confused, shy, neurotic and obnoxious, which is exactly what I was at the time!)

Okay, that sounds good. I'll have to join a large one then. I was worried I would be expected to be social, and that would leave them disappointed.

Don't worry about it, I appreciate examples. And, if they accept the application, you got them a new member!
