There's a part of Ion that still feels a bit unsure about Asch. He knows Asch isn't the kind of person to let it be known that he likes someone; not even by the person he likes. Likewise, it can be difficult to tell when he dislikes someone since he tends to treat someone however he wants to treat them, regardless. The only thing Ion is certain about is that while he may consider Asch to be his friend, Asch probably doesn't return the sentiment.

Ion has always liked Luke, even back when they first met.
He was loud and childish, but he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. And looking past that prickly outside, Ion could see well enough through his actions what kind of person Luke really was. After all, he was the one who offered to protect Ion in the Cheagle Woods (even though the manner in which he offered hadn't been very tactful). But more than that, Luke was a different kind of person from everyone else Ion had met up until that point. Everyone always treated him kindly and with respect because he was the Fon Master. But Luke, who knew so little of the world he was put into, didn't treat Ion like that at all. Ion was just Ion, and Luke used that same impolite bluntness on him as he did everyone else. Where the others found him annoying, Ion found it to be like a breath of fresh air.
Not to say the change in Luke wasn't an improvement, of course. On the contrary: the fact that Luke was strong enough to pull himself up from his own sins is one of the things Ion truly admires about him. And even with that change, Luke stayed Luke. He was still kind and considerate, just much better at showing it than he had been previously. Even after learning he was a replica, Luke was able to accept it and move forward. For a replica like Ion, who had simply accepted his role as a replacement for the previous Fon Master Ion, watching that change in Luke was inspiring. Ion owes a lot to Luke in that respect.
Now that Luke knows the truth about his fate on Auldrant, Ion feels as though there's nothing he couldn't talk to Luke about. He feels guilty for hiding his death from Luke, knowing how painful it must have been for him to learn due to the Malnosso's intervention. On the other hand, he's relieved that he no longer has to keep such a terrible secret from Luke. He wants to keep true to his promise never to hold information from Luke again.
Luke is by far one of his closest friends in Luceti. Ion is so grateful for this second chance at life he's been given that has allowed him to grow even closer to someone he cares about.

Ion never knew what it was like to have a family before Nephry.
He's never had a "parental" figure in his life before. Shortly after he was created, he had people who told him what to do and instructed him in his duties, but there was no emotional connection between himself and those people. There was always a barrier of reverence that prevented that sort of relationship. He was the Fon Master, after all. But that's no longer the case with Nephry. Over the past year, the barriers of mutual respect have been torn down, allowing instead for a sense of familiarity between the two of them.
The week they spent as true mother and son during the AU experiment made Ion realize how similar their present dynamic is to that kind of relaionship, though perhaps still just a little less affectionate. He still holds a great deal of respect for her. She's level-headed and strong (as one would have to be in order to deal with Jade and Dist) and she's been there for him during times when he needed it the most. Luceti has forced him to experience more emotional pain than he's ever had to deal with before and he'll forever be grateful to Nephry for all the help she's given him.
While Ion believes the party was able to assume his true intentions in the events surrounding his death, Nephry is the only person he has explicitly told that he intended to die. He trusts her more than he's ever trusted anyone, perhaps even on par with Anise. She's always been there for him when he needed someone, more so now that Anise isn't there for him to depend on. Although there is still that tendancy to hold back his true feelings to avoid making her worry, he's beginning to break down that wall, allowing him to be completely honest and direct with her.
There's a part of Ion that will always regret not being able to get to know Nephry better during his lifetime. However, seeing as his life will only continue to exist so long as he is in Luceti, Ion accepts their friendship for what it is here, even though he knows Nephry will forget about their time together once she's returned to Auldrant.

Although Ion spent his first few weeks in Luceti living under the same roof as His Majesty prior to being returned home, he never really had the opportunity to get to know him personally. Ion still feels a great amount of respect for the Emperor and he knows well it takes times for those walls to fall before one can begin forming a close bond with someone.

Tear was one of Ion's first friends, and is currently one of his closest. On top of being strong, she's someone you can always depend on; Ion really respects her. She's almost like the older sister he never had, particularly in Luceti where they even live under the same roof.
It makes Ion so happy that he was able to use the life he was given to save Tear's. Truthfully, it had been Ion's intention to remove Tear's miasma by sacrificing himself even before he was laying on the ground, his body weakened from reading the Planet Score. In a sense, it almost worked out for the best; he doesn't know whether the others would have gone along with his idea otherwise, after all...
But things are a different in Luceti. There's a part of Ion that feels like he should talk to Tear about what happened, that he needs to talk to her about it. He knows now just how much guilt Anise felt over his death and a part of him is worried Tear might share some of those same feelings, given his sacrifice for her sake. But it's not an easy thing to bring up, as proven by his very painful conversation with Luke following the AU event.
Regardless, having the chance to see her again, alive and healthy, makes him happier than he'd ever be able to put into words. Knowing that she'll be able to live a long, happy life once she returns to Auldrant has help put him at peace with the fact that he won't be returning himself.

Ion first met Gold when the other boy mistook him for a girl and attempted to flirt with him. It was a rather awkward meeting, to be sure. Save for that occassion, Ion doesn't know Gold very well. He did, however, receive a gift from him during December's Christmas Gift Exchange. Although he hasn't made much use of the hat, the sunglasses will certainly come in handy during the summer.
He has no idea the gifts were given in response to Ion's girliness.

Litchi did not leave a good first impression on Ion. The first time they met, he had been trying to meet Guy in Good Spirits but was intercepted by her first. She had been rather drunk at the time and immediatelly pulled Ion over and started dressing him up in crazy costumes using means that Ion is still unsure of to this day. The end result was a rather awkward moment of cross-dressing followed by another strange costume he couldn't identify.
He fled the scene before any more horrors could be put upon him and made a note not to visit Good Spirits after 5 pm ever again.

Ion really likes Riku. Even before he learned Riku was a replica, Ion always had the impression that something terrible had happened to him. He didn't need to hear his voice to tell he was upset about something. Even now, he feels as though there's far more beneath the surface he still doesn't know about. He wishes there were something he could do to help him, but for now, he'll do the best he can by being Riku's friend.
Although he hasn't been told out-right, Ion has his suspicions that Riku's original is, well, the only other Riku in the village. Though they never had a chance to speak during the AU event, he does remember speaking with the other Riku and knowing that he had an identical twin brother... who is now mysteriously absent in Luceti. Naturally, this also makes him curious as to why Riku is in the form he is now.
Knowing they're both replicas who were made to replace someone gives Ion a strong connection with Riku. He hopes to get to know him better and maybe find a way to help him out someday.
