Ugh.. roommates... good luck with that.

Don't know if they have these down there.. but in ATL we have these "Weekly Rate" places. Kinda like furnished apartments. If you could stay there for a while and avoid a commitment (lease) and still save some money you may be able to have your cake and eat it too.

oddly enough, i just discussed doing that today. there's a place about ten miles away from where i work that charges a weekly rate of $100. but i thought about it, and that's as much (if not more) as i'd pay to have a place of my own (a/k/a i still wouldn't be able to move anytime soon).

it is funny that you mention that though...good lookin out whoever you are.
