One of the Mom's groups that my wife is a part of decided to start a babysitting co-op, and so far it's been working great.  Basically, they all get poker chips, and then use those to trade for babysitting.  (That makes sure that you are actually trading, and not just using.)  She's made arrangements to do every other week watching of the kids with ( Read more... )

The even cooler thing is that we do the night ones after the kids are in bed. That means that the mom that is doing the babysitting is just hanging out watching TV or whatever at the other person's house. It's a win-win! And I know your favorite part is that you don't get any added work - I put the kids to bed before I leave to sit at the other lady's house. :)

Oh, that's nice!

I'm not sure what we're going to end up doing yet, but since most of our friends now are either pregnant or already have little ones, it shouldn't be a problem. It just means that we're going to end up hanging out with them more in the afternoons rather than the evenings, I think. Which is good! Plus, we'll be able to trade off babysitting on nights that the other wants to go out. :)
