The Elder wand is Elderly.

01. Name: Erika
02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Hallows? Prince
03. Why do you want to join this community? The sorting aspect of it intrigued me, I enjoy personality assessment. And Harry Potter discussion and debate is always fun.
||MIRROR OF ERISED||

04. You are eleven years old and you've just received a Hogwarts letter. How do you react?
Skepticism, disbelief, someone is playing a prank on me. I would have to have the Hogwarts representative come, probably talk to me for a while and then demonstrate. Though after I got the letter and before a representative showed up I would try to do magic on my own. Make fire, or move a pencil. Little things when I thought no one was watching.

05. In which wizarding activities or clubs do you think you would be interested?
In the movies there was a band and I probably would have been in that, otherwise not much my first few years, I’m not the most social so the whole social aspect of clubs doesn’t really appeal to me. Once I got to OWL levels I would likely pick up another activity or two, something with herbology maybe.

06. What makes a person deserving of your respect?
Ambition and drive, I do tend towards people who know what they want and how to get it. A lot of my friends in highschool had an idea of what they wanted, be it to be a mother and wife, or to go into college. I have a friend that is a bit wishy washy about what she wants and she can drive me absolutely nutty.
I also respect people who are hard workers. I am lazy, slothful, however you want to call it so I do admire people who aren’t.

07. What is your boggart, and what would you do to make it ridiculous?
Well I don’t tend to like looking at myself that deeply. It’s not the most comfortable. But lets see, greatest fear…Ok so I had failure here originally but I am changing that. Tedious work. Getting stuck in that rut where you are doing the same thing everyday and when you get home you are too tired to do anything you actually enjoy and because of the system you can’t really take that vacation because what will your clients do so you never get to go anywhere or see anything new or do anything exciting. Oh nearly forgot to make it funny. Me at my desk job playing a prank on my boss.

08. What would you see in the Mirror of Erised?
Me free of the restrictions of life, the paperwork, bureaucracy, able to just do what I want, whenever I want, not having to worry about is this filled out right, I need to get this done.
09. Which element (fire, earth, air, water) do you think best represents you?
Well, lets just say not water. While I can be go with the flow it’s in an earthy type way, not a watery way. Water goes and takes everything with it, it wares things down and while you can change the path, you can’t change the destination.

Fire, well it burns a little more fiercely than I do. Too passionate for me. Often times I just don’t care and well, fire does. Its will has a tendency to take over, and I am too passive for that.

This leaves earth and air, the two elements I associate with most. Earth is patient, it doesn’t care because it knows whatever fire is getting all huffy about isn’t that big a deal and will sort itself out. Water cuts through it, it is urgent that it gets somewhere and earth just takes it and watches it flow by, all things I can go with.

But I really think these days I am more of an air element. Avoidant big time, flighty, jumping from one whim to the next, distant. I am definitely more air than earth these days.

10. What do you think are your top five positive characteristics?
01. Clever- I am more than capable of making leaps of logic, the whole this plus this means this is the problem. I've ended up in a problem solving field.

02. Caring- You are my friend I will take care of you in my own little way. That may be lying to people that you are totally fine while filling up a cup of water for the bed side so that rumors of your night are not spread, or simply taking care of the details of a trip since the friend doesn't have time and we both want to do it asap.

03. nurturing-Um ya looking at this now it is pretty much the same characteristic of above. I'm the type that just happens to make too much dinner for myself since the other person is an incompetent cook and such.

04. positive- I take situations and instead of looking at the negative try and figure out a way to make a positive outcome. 'Well this didn't go according to plan but if we do this and this we get a similar end result.'

05. Patient- I didn't use to think of myself this way but when I look more comparatively I do have a bit more than average patience. I can deal with more difficult people even when it has me running in circles. Or spend two hours getting the knot out of the yarn. *Glares at the nice little neat innocent looking ball of yarn.*

11. What do you think are your top five negative characteristics?
01. Lazy- More avoidance I suppose, though with a big dose of genuine laziness. I would always rather sit around all day reading. If I really get into a project I can work at it but otherwise I put the least amount of effort I deem to be acceptable. It will get the job done but it won't be getting extra credit.

02. Cold- well more distant than cold. I just tend to be out there more, not really the warm and bubbly type. People don't really come to me for the share feelings thing because I don't come off as one who is good at that.

03. lying-I try to work on this but generally if a white lie will solve the problem faster I go with it. Especially if it doesn't change the bottom line and is easier than arguing with someone to get to the same point. Much easier with some people.

04. apathetic-Ties in a bit with being distant. Honestly I often times just don't care. I don't want to care or have to care or deal with it. I know this conflicts slightly with the 'caring'.

05. narcissis- yep, pretty selfish, I do tend to think of myself first. Vain would be a good word here too. With the I am right, I know my logic was right and if you couldn't follow it I really don't have time for this because as far as I am concerned it was simple.

12. If you could get rid of one of your personality traits and pick a trait you don't consider yourself to have instead, what would you get rid of and what new one would you pick? Why?
Lazy with hard working and dedicated. I really wish I had more drive, but I really just don’t. To be able to do something with the this is something I want to do for myself, and I have no deadlines but I am still going to get it DONE.

13. If you were a wizard in the Harry Potter world, what would your post-Hogwarts game plan be?
Something that allows me to travel? Probably that has to do with history. None of the careers mentioned in the books ever really appealed to me. Though being a wand maker sounds fascinating. Honestly I would probably end up as a history teacher, focusing on Medieval and perhaps specializing in the time around the founding of Hogwarts. I mean if you look at dates is possible the Hogwarts founders were actually Norman French! There is a lot of research to be done in that area. Though magical architectural history could be interesting. And looking at the Secrecy act and how it changed history.

14. What do the Harry Potter books mean to you?
I read them obsessively when I was younger, especially before the 4th book came out. That wait was almost as bad as the one between subtle knife and amber spyglass. The Harry potter world became an active location in my imagination for day dreams. It is still one of my favorite fandoms.

15. Who is your favourite character in the Harry Potter series?
Luna Lovegood! She is awesome! Wacky, eccentric, doesn’t care what other people think and totally comfortable with who she is. I wish I was cool enough to pull off wearing radishes as earings! And yet she is the most down to earth character at times. How do you get to the ministry? You fly! Duh. The fact the can take difficult problems and boil them down to their core is just amazing.

16. Who is your least favourite character in the series? Do not pick Umbridge. She was written to be hated.
Why would I pick Umbridge? She is awesome in a totally power hungry type way. I would pick Snape. I was ok with him as a character till the last book. Then he turned into a creeper. All that nonsense about him loving Lilly? Bull, he wasn’t in love with her he was obsessed with her. Love involves wanting the best for that person no matter what. He wanted the best for himself, not her. He didn’t care about her wants, needs, hopes, he just wanted her. The man needed some therapy, and instead of giving it to him Dumbledore just twists him even more.

17. If you could trade lives with one HP character for a day, who would it be?
Fred or George. I know they are both different characters with distinct personalities and all and I should be more picky as to which one, but I’m not. I more interested in their relationship together and the interplay between them and for that it doesn’t matter which one I am.

18. You have to pick four subjects to study for your NEWTs. What are they?
Optimistically? Charms, History of Magic, Herbology, Potions. Realistically? I’m not that hot at chemistry and the whole memorizing plant names and stuff wasn’t a class I actually did well at. I would probably still be in Herbology but potions would be replaced with maybe ancient runes.

19. Who are your favourite and least favourite Hogwarts professors? Why?
[PLACE ANSWER HERE]
Honestly, Hagrid would be on my list of Profesors I don’t like, I love him as a character but man are his classes inconsistent. Umbridge may have boring classes but there was a rhyme and reason to them. I can work around that, you know, bring casual reading to class charmed to look like the work book and all, Hagrid may have had some good classes but a semester of flobberworms to death defying just doesn’t cut it. Not to fond of Madame Hooch, not really into the whole ‘walk it off’ gym teacher. And Professor Binns. A history class should have debate, discussion and such. History is active! He’s not teaching history so much as he is teaching names and dates. Otherwise I am quite fond of the professors, I think Trelawney’s class would be hilarious. I love teachers like McGonagall. Sprouts practicality is really nice and charms always seemed like a fairly laid back class.

20. Each Hogwarts founder owned a prized possession. Imagine that these possessions were symbolic of these founders’ values. Explain how these objects might exemplify the traits of their owner’s house.
• Godric Gryffindor’s Sword: Gryffindor was the crusader, fight for what is good and right and all that. Warriors are brave and stand up for what they believe in and all that. Except that he was a medieval warrior, which meant he was noble. Since Hogwarts was founded pre Henry II he was likely uneducated ecept for the battlefield. Most knights at this point were bullies, rape and pillage style. Taking just a small step backwards from this perspective we can see that perhaps Gryffindor values Bravery, and feudal loyalty which could translate into just loyalty over education and all.
• Salazar Slytherin’s Locket: Locket, keep things hidden and all, preserve secrets and keep treasures close. Now for the more fun historical perspective! From the looks of it Slytherin was wealthy, the locket was silver and all, but he didn’t fight, no weapon at least to represent him. The was before the secrecy act so a simple look it appears he went into a more churchly profession. This makes him educated, smart. And as an upper member of the church, based on wealth, likely involved in a more political way, clever and all.

• Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem: A crown. Yay. And I am bored of the more basic symbolism so I’ll just skip to the more historical analysis. She is powerful, wealthy. Maybe a duchess. If she is a woman involved in politics she is smart, and there were a few smart women in politics around that time. Emma of Normandy was a brilliant woman in politics, clever and all and it is likely trying to make her similar to women like Emma. Women ran the households and estates during this time of history, the men were all off fighting so they weren’t going to get around to it, the crown could indicate she is head of her domains. A smart, clever, powerful, woman.
• Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup: The cup gets connected to the kitchen, warm and nurturing, providing care to those under her, which would be a great household since the cup is of gold.

21. Describe the canon house qualities that you feel accurately reflect you. Please try to include traits from each of the four houses.
• Gryffindor: Loyal, Gryffindors take care of their own and I am all for that. And I can be brave, I love travelling, seeing new places and trying new things. I’m also fairly bold when it comes to trying new things and comfortable with who I am.

• Slytherin: The more behind the scenes, pull strings method of working that slytherins have is very me. I don’t want the spotlight, I want to influence it. And I am all for self preservation and making sure I get something out of the deal. I don’t ned something out of the deal but it’s a good bonus.

• Ravenclaw: Their value on learning is somewhere I fit in. trust me, take a trip with me and you will find I am a free tour guide, I can tell you all kinds of random crap. That and there is a grace to their house. It’s almost odd though that their house was built in the gothic style instead of Romanesque. You would have thought they would get much more into the renaissance.

• Hufflepuff: Loyal, practical people, I can go with that. And I do have a bit of a sense of fairness. That I am willing to bend. So that doesn’t totally count.

22. Which house do you feel the least affinity towards?
Gryffindor just doesn’t seem right. I mean besides the fact that in the book they are all crazy.
