Livejournal changes and what this will mean for the game

Hello everyone, and happy holidays. This is probably the last thing you'd want to see on Christmas, but it's quite necessary, I'm afraid ( Read more... )

With the way LJ currently is, I will have to vote for the move - or at least towards the move. As much as I love LJ and the time I've spent here, this layout is horrendous and I doubt LJ is going to revert back. Any RP urges I've had have been almost completely zapped just because I can't stand this layout. My only suggestion re: the move I would say that waiting maybe a bit to see if LJ does somehow miraculously change their minds and revert. Or at least get the layout to a place that will work. If not, screw it, I am all for moving. The only paid I have an attachment to is for Spain's journal; otherwise I'm all for it.

And honestly, since I've been doing LJ RP for years, I'm fine with either format. Community based does leave the connivence of being able to use the journal for multiple games, and limits the amount of adds to your friends list you have to do - but those are about the only things I really like. If you stick with journal based, I'll be fine - if you switch to community based, I'll be fine.

Also, to be very honest, I ( ... )

Yeah, LJ is definitely not going to revert. They've said as much, and the people at DW have explained the reasons as to why they won't. If I weren't so lazy, I'll dig up the link right now, but I can always do it later.

Sob, I did see that! I was just blindly hoping that maybe since they reverted the mobile site a bit, they'd consider the main site. Weh weh, oh well.

If anything, they only changed the mobile site just to make it easier for mobile users to access the site.

I've been absent as of late, mostly due to end of the semester related stress, so I don't know how much my opinion counts for the moment. But I definitely agree that moving to DW would be the better option. Any RP urges I've had to play on LJ have been killed because of this update. DW has shown to care for it's userbase and is very open to fandom.

On the other matter at hand, I honestly prefer community based games because I find them easier to keep up with and maintain. If you stick with journal based at DW, I will try my damndest to be a better player and what not, because I do love this setting an awful lot.

I have no opinions on changing the timeframe of the game, as I'm still new and wasn't around for that TYL event.

I've talked about this a lot, though not really publicly because I was worried bringing it up might spur negative feelings about the whole idea ( ... )

Oop, I remembered something that concerned me.

If the game does move, would the players have to reapp the characters they choose to keep?

No; you'd be able to bring over any active characters without having to reapp.

That was my only worry. CARRY ON.

Also, it should be mentioned that DW journals are currently invite-free until the end of the year, so now is the time to make them! But even when it reverts to invite-only, write'll

Dumb phone. WE will be able to provide players with a code to create journals for future characters.

I said I have no opinion in the poll, but truthfully LJ's layout has also killed a lot of my desire to RP. I've been busy with school and christmas things, so I haven't been around as of late - but if the game moves, I will definitely move as well. There are things about this update that I like, but it's slowed my computer down a lot and loading LJ on my phone has also become a pain. I'm certain LJ won't be rolling back the changes or making it easier for us, so leaving isn't an option I'm against at all ( ... )
