1. What is/was your favorite subject in school and why?
Wow, what an easy first question. Ever since first grade it has always been History. I love learning about our planets past and current events. The great people who changed our world has always thrived me to be all that I can be. My favorite "story" is Rosa Parks. On December 1, 1955, she disobeyed bus driver James Blake's order to give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. This action of civil disobedience started the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which is one of the largest movements against racial segregation. In addition, this launched Martin Luther King, Jr., who was involved with the boycott, to prominence in the civil rights movement. She has had a lasting legacy worldwide. I loved that she stood up for what she believed in and refused to admit that she did wrong. Rosa is my hero. I've admired her ever since I've learned about her. I'm deeply saddened that our lives didn't cross paths. I would have loved to meet such an inspiring and intelligent woman. I hope that one day I can be at least half of the person that she became.
2. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts and why?
That would have to be Charms. I know Defense of the Dark Arts is extremely important to master but I'm just more interested in Charms. When I read the books and a character performs a spell, I'm thinking in my head, "I wish I could do that!" I'm a hands-on type of person. I would much rather be holding a wand than copying down notes from the blackboard. My second choice is Potions.
3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
To be more outgoing. I hate that I am extraordinarily shy around new people or situations where I feel uncomfortable. I always hold myself back because I'm worried about what other people would think of what I'm about to do. Whenever I go anywhere I never look a stranger in the eye. I get nervous about petty things such as paying for gas at the register. I even get nervous when I'm sitting in the car at stop lights because I think someone in the next car over is looking at me. I also hate standing in lines at stores and walking in public alone. I hope someday that I can break out of my shell around people I don't know and show the world who I am.
4. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Without a second thought- World Hunger. If only I was Bill Gates could I travel the world and feed those in need. I break down every time I see the helpless children on television. I can't stop thinking about how much worse their lives are. How something as simple as eating is an everyday struggle for them. Thinking about when they go to bed at night will they get to eat tomorrow? Will they even live to see tomorrow? Will they grow up? How much longer do they have to dig out of the garbage? Yes, if I were a wealthy person, I would devote 50% of my life into delivering meals to those who live in poverty. I would cry tears of joy. It would bring a smile to my face just knowing that I gave someone a chance to live.
5. Which Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?
That would have to be Hermione Granger. I look nothing like her but we do have similarities. J.K. Rowling has once said, that Hermione is the "anti-Luna" as Luna believes things on faith alone, while Hermione grounds her views on facts and logic. Now as you know, I do love history and reading about it but I've always asked the questions, why and how. Not only with history class but other classes also. I never settled with just a statement. I want to know all the details. If someone came up to me and told me that the sky was purple, I would say, "Prove it."
6. Which non-Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?
Martha from "The Secret Garden" is a character that I can relate to outside of the Harry Potter series. She and I both love to help others. We both have a gentle and warm heart. I love to talk to my friends and family about anything, I could go on for days. When I get comfortable around someone, they usually have to tell me to shut up or be quiet. My younger cousins beg me all the time to read and tell them stories.
7. Pick one quality from each of the four houses that you possess and explain why.
Gryffindor: I'm bold, meaning I stand up for what I believe in. I'm not afraid to say what I think. I like to make my opinions well known. I have always had strong opinions and I don't change my mind easily, which leads to my stubborn tendency. I don't like to give up on things without a fight. I'm very proud, sometimes to the point of arrogance.
Ravenclaw: I'm smart. But being smart isn't the only Ravenclaw quality. However, when I'm interested in something, I have to know everything about it. That is a Ravenclaw trait. There's usually no actual use for the information I find, but I like random knowledge and it can come in handy every once in a while.
Hufflepuff: I'm very loyal to my family. I'm very close to all of my cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. on my mom's side in particular. If someone tries to pry into my family's private matters, I tell that person it's none of his business. If someone insults my family, I stick up for them. I love my family. I'd do anything for them.
Slytherin: I definitely think that I have something to prove. I'm from a small town. I want to get into a great college. I want to get out of this county, even out of this state. I want to prove to the world (well, maybe just the people I know) that someone from where I live can actually do something and be somebody. Exactly what I'm going to do, I don't have the slightest clue, but I'll play it by ear for now and cross that bridge when I get to it.
8. Which house do you think you belong in and why?
You may be in quite a shock from reading my answers to the questions above and then reading this one. I truly believe I belong in Slytherin. Not all Slytherins are evil and self-centered. I love to help others. I do care about my friends and family a great deal. But I always want to be the best. I don't care who I have to pass to get there. I love challenges and I always want to be in first place. When someone set a record in school, I tried my hardest and did everything I could do and think of to break it. My parents say, like most parents, that they want me to be more successful than them. Well I'm not the least bit lazy and I completely and utterly agree. I try to get in more hours of work just to see if I can bring home a bigger paycheck than my mom. I love to save money and show my parents my account balance. At the same time, I like to buy expensive clothes showing off to my friends that I can afford the finer things in life.
9. Which house do you feel you'll never belong in and why?
I don't know if this is allowed but I don't think there is a house that I could never belong in. My desire to learn makes me qualified for Ravenclaw. I could be placed in Slytherin because I always want to be the best in everything I do, including helping others. The fact that I keep repeating that I enjoy to help others, could mean I belong in Hufflepuff. (I mean no offense by this, but I do think that Hufflepuff is a bit for the "pansies.") Gryffindor may be the place for me because I'm opinionated, fearless and spunky. But now that I think about it Gryffindor may very well be the house I'll never belong in. I only show those lion qualities while I'm around those I know or am comfortable being around. I believe a true Gryffindor must always be brave and bold no matter what the situation.
10. Which Harry Potter book do you like the best and why?
My favorite Harry Potter book is The Prisoner of Azkaban. I have three reasons why I love The Prisoner of Azkaban. First being, the fact that Harry knows [vaguely] the truth about his past. (What happened the night that his parent's died.) Plus Harry finally has an adult to count on and a sort of father figure. Number two, because of the tale of the Marauder's Map. Ever since I was a little kid, I pretend that my house had secret passageways. This may sound a little corny but I have made my own "Marauder's Map" of Hogwarts and I have bought Hermione's wand and I tap it with the wand saying, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" and "Mischief Managed." Lastly, I love The Prisoner of Azkaban because that is when Sirius Black is fully introduced. (I know that he was first introduced briefly in The Sorcerer's Stone when Hagrid mentioned borrowing the motorbike from him to rescue Harry from Godric's Hollow.) Sirius is my favorite character of the Harry Potter series. I love him because he is stubborn and believes that he is never wrong, much like Rosa Parks. I look up to him and fellow Gryffindors because of their outstanding bravery.
11. Which Harry Potter movie do you like the best and why?
This is hard to say because I adore the books so much more and all of the movies haven't come out yet. I was very close to choosing The Prisoner of Azkaban because it's my favorite book but since it left out the Marauder's Map story line, I did not chose it. (Lame, I know.) If I had to chose then I would pick The Order of the Phoenix. I picked that movie because I feel that it is the movie that has stayed more true to the book compared to the other movies. Most people have complained that it was "too dark" or "creepy." (I realize after they state that, they have not read the series.) But that is what happens as the books progress. The Order of the Phoenix just has more meaning to me and makes you realize what the story, as a whole, is actually about. The only thing I hate about the book and movie is that Sirius dies.
12. What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
Well, I think I'd see two or three siblings in the mirror. As I read the books, I was always kind of envious of the Weasley family. I'm an only child and I've always wanted a brother or sister or both. There are so many children in that family and I'm sure there is rarely a dull moment in their house. I live in a very small town. We don't even have a stoplight and the population is mostly older people. When I was younger, I never had anyone to play with so I always dreamed of having brothers and sisters. I still wouldn't mind a sibling if for nothing else but to shake things up around here every once in awhile. It gets kind of dull. They'd probably annoy the living daylights out of me, but I know that they would be worth it.
13. If you came across a boggart, what would it transform into?
My boggart would be a Killer Clown from the old 1988 horror flick, Killer Clowns from Outer Space. I have seen that movie once and it has scared the wits out of me. I refuse to watch it ever again.
I have never a day in my life like clowns. They were always scary and evil to me. I used to think as a child that they had a secret plan to ruin my friend or friends' birthday party. When I got a little older I thought they were scheming to take over the world.
The only thing that I can see my boggart transforming into after I've shouted, "Riddikulus!" (and concentrating really hard, of course) is a ticking time bomb that explodes soon after. I know what an imagine I have! But I do wish that all clowns become bombs and destroy themselves.
14. Which Harry Potter character is your least favorite and why?
Cornelius Fudge first appeared as the kindly, confident, gentle and intelligent man who offered reassurance and a warning to Harry at the time of Sirius's escape. Slowly as the position of Minister of Magic absorbed him, cracks began to appear in his character. He became more susceptible to outside influences particularly those of Lucius Malfoy, and other high born and highly powerful individuals, giving Lucius for instance, the plump opportunity to manipulate Fudge with suggestive remarks. A prime example was in Prisoner of Azkaban where Lucius instigated the idea of the removal of Dumbledore as Headmaster, and the execution of Buckbeak.
Particularly crucial for me was where Fudge became less controlled when he was dismissive of Harry's pleas that Voldermort has returned. For his own selfish and paranoid reasons, believing Dumbledore to be waiting in the wings to step into his shoes, rather than admit that Cedric Diggory has died, he foolishly implied that the Hufflepuff was merely injured. At this point I believe that he became more reactive rather than proactive. So much could have been done if Fudge approached this matter in another way. His position became more precarious and he was certainly out of his depth as time went by, as instead of addressing his faults and focusing on improving himself realistically, he set out to undermine Dumbledore and Harry's credibility, using his position to cast aspersions. Whereby he successfully manipulated the media and the fears of people in general. It seems to be that he was aware of the power that was Dumbledore, and so insecure of his own ability in a sense, that he became convinced that Dumbledore was pitching a tent outside the ministry ready to unseat Fudge at any given time.
To convince all that he was still competent of being in charge, he brought Dolores Umbridge into Hogwarts as DADA professor. He thought his power was absolute when he started using Umbridge as his puppet to imply all sorts of numerous anarchic rules at Hogwarts.
15. If you were in the Harry Potter universe, what would be your stance on Muggle-born wizards practicing magic?
I see them as equals with Pure-bloods and Half-bloods. I don't see anything wrong with Muggle-borns practicing and/or learning magic. Hermione Granger has proved to us certainly enough that it does not matter where you come from but it's who you are that counts.
I truly believe that every wizard family has a Muggle somewhere in their family. It doesn't matter if you have to research hundreds or thousands of years, every family had a Muggle-born somewhere down the family tree.
16. What kind of qualities do you look for in a friend?
I do not believe opposites attract. How can two or more people so different get along so well? Even though most people might disagree with me, I just don't see how it can all work out in the long run. It's like trying to be friends with someone you have nothing in common with. Therefore, I look for my qualities in a friend. Maybe not down to the very last trait but you get the idea.
People have to earn my trust. I'm not going to trust someone right off the back because we were friends. You can always have friends to just have a good time with and friends that you trust with your life. Friends that you can tell anything and everything.
I also look for ambition in a friend. They have to have some sort of drive to do better. Otherwise, I'm afraid they would just be flat out boring.
17. What is your favorite quote from the series and why?
Dumbledore: After all this time?
Snape: Always.
It shows the true side of Severus Snape. Why he contraband to show it, we may never know. Snape became my second favorite character because of this. I believe he was hard on Harry because Harry reminded him so much of James and Lily. James, whom he loved to hate and Lily, whom he loved with all his heart. It must have been hard for poor Severus to deal with his mixed emotions. I know he didn't want the truth out that, he a Slytherin, loved a Gryffindor. Also, that he didn't loathed a being that James produced.
18. What is your favorite quote that is not related to Harry Potter and why?
"Alis Volat Propris" Latin for: She flies with her own wings. The state motto for Oregon.
It refers to me and my life. I've always been dependent as long as I can remember. I enjoy solving life's problems and mistakes on my own. I wouldn't have it any other way.
19. Who is one person, real or fictional, that inspires you and why?

20. List your top five priorities in life. Why are these things so important to you?
Help others as much as I human possibly can: I don't want else to say here that I haven't said already in my entire application.
Raise and provide for a family: Family is what I believe keeps us all sane. Without them, where would you learn life's most important lessons? Where would you get the memories that you cherish so deeply in your heart? I want the joy and experience of having a family, most like everyone else in this world.
To make a difference: I want to be more than just a name on a gravestone when I die. I want my life to have an effect on something or someone. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that, but I'm sure I'll find a way.
Invent something: I remember a project my class was assigned in 5th grade. We had to invent something, anything that wasn't invented as of present day. I invented the "Suitcase Table." These days, I have not the slightest idea of what I'll create. I do hope that it is a household name. I hope that everyone can benefit from it.
Enjoy life: First, I would want to fulfill my top four priorities. Then do what every wants, to have fun! I wrote down a long, long list of places I want to see before I die. So traveling the world is a must. I would like to be surrounded by those I care about most.
21. You see both a Muggle and a wizard in trouble. You have the chance to help only one. Would you help one of them or ignore the situation? If you chose to help one of them, which would you help and why?
I would help the Muggle. A Muggle is defenseless without help, especially against Dark Magic. The wizard can help himself, after all he does have a wand. My first priority would be to help those who cannot help themselves.
22. Under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?
I was avenging a loved one's death. If someone killed a member of my family or one of my dearest friends, I would not stop until I found he/she. I know using an Unforgivable Curse will never bring that person back but I would feel better if I know I got revenge. I would feel that my loved one will be able to rest in piece.
23. Under what circumstances would you work for Voldemort?
I would never work for Voldemort. I love to help people. Helping is not something Voldemort has ever wanted or done. I don't like to see others in pain or inflicting pain on others. I would be Avada Kedavra'd by Voldemort himself or one of his faithful Death Eaters before I ever went to the "dark side."
24. If you happened upon a Time Turner, how would you use it?
I would love to be all noble and say I wouldn't touch it, but that would be a lie. Common sense and the caution that most of the time holds me would fly out of the window in the end, as plain old curiosity would be my downfall. I can imagine myself staring at the timer until it imprinted itself behind my eyelids, and continuously having to touch it. I would try to fight the urge to no avail and in the end would grab it and a little common sense would return and whisper in my ear, to try it but only for a little while. Once I have got over the excitement of holding it, feeling excited instead of shame. I would then spend some time wondering what to do with it.
My initial thought would be to go back and change horrible events that happened to me, but on second thoughts those events most probably made who I am now. I don't really believe the butterfly effect, but at the same time wouldn't want to make major changes to my life. I would much rather go back in time and possibly, if I could somehow make world peace and poverty vanish forever.
On a more selfish note, I would go back to buy a winning lottery ticket. Then I could really stop world hunger. Plus show-off my brand new mansion, cars and wardrobe to everyone I know.
25. Will you remain an active member of the community?
As I love Harry Potter so much and I'm not apart of any other group, I most certainly would be active in this community. I cannot promise to be involved every waking hour of the day. But I will put my full efforts into making this the best Harry Potter sorting community that it can be. This would be a great place to make new friends and share my interest and love for the series. In real life, none of my friends and family like Harry Potter so it would be nice to have people to chat and discuss with.
