The Doctor, tense as hell, might have needed to smoke some of the really horrific island pot before going on air. Might. Two Chuck Taylors thudded up onto the desk at 10 AM sharp.
"Goooooooood morning, Tabula Rasa! Hey, this is not a test, this is rock and roll. Time to rock it from the waterfall to the dinosaur fence, and it seems like I'm the one to bring it to you. This is the Doctor, not Robin Williams, even though a whole lot of you won't get that reference for varying reasons, or even know who Robin Williams is. Or know about Vietnam, or about Richard Nixon. That's all right; depending on who you ask, it's probably better that way.
"Carrying on...this is your Thursday morning, and eventually, if you're those 'insatiable harlots' I'm mates with, early afternoon, wakeup call. I'll be playing music of varying types and places, depending on what I can find around here and what human tastes run to these days. 'Cause, uh, I wasn't human, for a long while, and I've been a lot of places and times, so I don't want to alienate anyone too badly. No pun intended. There'll be pop culture snippets and references you won't understand, some of which will make you want to throw mangoes at my head. However, friends, remember, learning is Fun. Don't forget to sign up for school, by the way.
"If you don't know who I am to throw a mango at, that's okay. Just look for the tall skinny bloke in Converse All-Stars, and if he answers to the name of Jack Casanova or Peter Carlisle, that's not me, yeah? No going around and throwing mangoes at people who don't deserve it, as that's just not in step with the society we're aiming for around here. Cultural diversity, yes, but not at getting bashed in the head. Like my dog, I respond well to praise, too. Gentle pats on the head sans mango are entirely welcome.
"Weather today is mostly sunny with a high of around 27 degrees Celsius. Also, don't forget to pick up a copy of the newspaper. They've managed four pages this time, which is fantastic, so do support them in the free press. By the way, feel free to stop by the station and ask me to play something or come by to gab about things important to you. As long as you keep it safe for the younger set to hear, that's brill. I just reserve the right to turn off the mic at any time.
"Shutting up and carrying on, as I could theoretically talk all day and bore you to tears, I was going to start things out with something fast moving, but the mood today just ain't right, as someone I know would say. So, with a brief hullo to my daughter of the same name, here's a bunch of Canadians singing a song by some Americans, into one microphone in Toronto sometime in the late 80s. Let's just say with this song...someone somewhere did good."
He leaned leisurely back and pressed play on the Cowboy Junkies' cover of "Sweet Jane".
