Of course rape is sexual, and it is also aggressive. Anyone who tries to separate aggression from sex is in the grip of an ideology. This points me to reality: sexuality is always aggressive.

If one accepts Darwinian evolution, sex is the purest genetic aggression. Our genes demand that we have sex. Fertility matters; willingness is not an issue. That explains the male sex drive, and much of female sex drive as well. To deny this is to deny evolution.

However, humans also have a higher level, which I have learned to call the Buddha-nature. This is where we get ideas of spirituality, compassion, and asking permission before we mate with someone.

Really, none of this matters. I designed the rape discussion for feminists, to see if people of sharply different views could have a reasonable, peaceful dialogue.

I posted it on a feminist blog, and the ladies were very reasonable. We did disagree, but respectfully. We ended up friends. As I said to them, I do have hope for the world, that we can live together. That's what this is about.
