New Original Track: Distant Void - Atmospheric (2009 Eastern Trance Mix)

Yes - this is another music post.

This time, it's a completely original track that I originally created in 1991, and this is a ground-up reworking of the whole thing, forming a blend of traditional Eastern instruments and Western trance.

It's also a preview cut so I've disabled downloading.

You revived the song! This is really nice, where did you source the Eastern instruments out of curiosity?

One thing I noticed is I can't really hear a snare drum (or a hand clap if that's the way you sway) as part of the ongoing rhythm, is there one that I just can't hear very well?

And I had the feeling I wanted the other percussion (cymbals and hi-hats) coming in earlier, but that's just me.

Overall it's a pretty sweet mix, I'll have a few more listens when I get the chance =)

The erhu and dizi came from Kong Audio, the koto came from rekkerd.org, and the shishi-odoshi (no, I'm not kidding) came from freesound.org.

This last one I pitch-adjusted it slightly, dropped the supplied second clonk and manually re-created it in the playback to maintain the time interval when altering the pitch - to create a piece of tuned percussion out of a piece of garden furniture. :)

And - you're not wrong. There is no snare drum or hand-clap anywhere in this track. At least not at the moment. Just the bass kick, cymbals, hi-hats, a regular drip of water and the shishi-odoshi.
