I caught the thingie at the last wedding I was at, and ironically, 2 months later... I'm engaged!! Bling Bling Baby!
Bunch of us before the Aquabats show last July... ,
Music: Aquabats, Greenday, They Might Be Giants, Save Ferris, The Toasters, The Pillows, The Planet Smashers, Big D and the Kids Table, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Save Ferris, The Jolly Rogers, Workshirt Wonder, Mustard Plug, MU330,Bad Credit, Reel Big Fish, Majestic, Planet V, Go Go 13, Treephort and it goes on...
Top 3 favorite albums:
The Fury of the Aquabats The Aquabats: This was the album that started it all for me. I got it as a birthday gift from a cousin of mine, becasue I am a HUGE batman fan, and he thought it was a ska CD involving batman. Anyways, I popped it in, and fell in love with it. That was 4 years ago.
NO! They Might Be Giants: This Album, never sparked an interest for me to buy on my own... I didn't understand the concept, and didn't like TMBG enough to buy a CD. However, my now boyfriend, in his attempts to woo me, gave me this CD and I loved every second of it. The songs all teach something, but none of it is in the actual lyrical context of the song. Like the song: "Violin" is a bunch on nonesense (example lyrics)
"Violin lin lin,
Violin lin lin ,
Violin lin lin , Ahhhh!
Hippo, Hippo, Hippo, Hippo,
Hippo, Hippo, Hippo, Ahhh.
Mop.... Mop Mop....
Mop Mop Mop Mop Mop Mop Mop...
Speck of dust dust dust
Speck of dust dust dust
Speck of dust dust dust, Ahhhh!"
and it is teaching scaled, and intervals of music, and I am a bit of a music buff, so I was inpressed.
Kerplunk Greenday: Greenday was my first favorite band ever, and Dookie was the first grown up album I bought myself. However, in my obsessive collecting and listening over the years, Kerplunk has alawys stood out in my mind. With songs like "Only of You" and "Dominated Love Slave" Whats not to love?? Not to mention Billie Joe is still a hottie at 32 :p
Last show that rocked your world: Oh god... I go to a show every other night... Last December the Aquabats Holiday Extravanganza was pretty awesome. Their encore "We are the Champions" with all the heros and villians out on stage gave me chills. Also "Ska is Dead: 2004" also really impressed me... Mustard Plug rocked my socks, and Big D and the kids table even dedicated a song to me :)
Why do you think your the Anti-Scene: Because I'm Nicole. Known to walk up to kids in the mall with their cure shirts and converse and say (In a condesending baby voice) "look at you little none-conformist! You FIGHT the man!" that, and every other boy I see with that "hair brushed over his eyes" look and said, "Hey! Aren't you in a band?? oh, whats its called?? OH! BRIGHT EYES!"
Tell us Joke:
How do you get 100 dead babies in a bucket?
a blender.
How do you get them out?
Chips.
You would rather poke yourself in the eye than...: Hear one more person call the Aquabats a ska band....
Tell us something that pissed you off at a show: Kids that *insist* on moshing in the middle of a skank pit... or people that crown surf and leave bruises on ME!
You get the chance to kick the crap out of a scenester, what is your weapon of choice?: psh... I would pluck the spiked right off of their jean jacket with the sleeves torn off... and stab them in the eye!
