[He's left Venkman sitting there a little longer than he said he would and when he finally enters the diner and comes over to sit with Venkman it's hard to tell if he feels badly or not.]

Sorry I'm late. Lab accident. [And he leaves it at that.]

[Nothing he's not used to, okay. He figures Egon is only in this for the idea of cake being served.]

[you should really leave your door locked, Venkman. there's no effort on Ray's part at all when opens the door and walks in.]

[he stops, taking in the sight unfolding before him, looking from the party hat to all the balloons. the expression that grows on his face speaks volumes even when he himself remains silent.]

[Oh great. And he thought nothing could possibly have made this entire scene worse.]

[ Ilsa sees him with the hat. She actually wrestles with herself about telling him or not, but it's not like she hates him... and if it is his birthday, he needs to have someone who's aware to acknowledge it. ]

[His face twists a bit with confusion at the first comment, and then a bit of embarrassment when he realizes he's still wearing the thing. Venkman snatches it off of his head in one quick sweep, crumbling it into a ball in his fist.]
